Just saw the fight on YouTube. His opponent wasn't a big puncher but Christian just couldn't move his head to get out of the way of punches. At 49 he should not have been allowed to box anymore.

Saw the fight on YouTube after a friend mentioned the death of the fighter. Pretty brutal fight although neither seemed to be landing alot of clean concussive blows. Daghio was coming forward and dictating the pace and action. Towards the end of the fight, he got caught with a few shots and seemed more exhausted than anything else. Although you could hear some people cheering during the fight, it barely seed like anyone was there. Apparently a van load of his friends and fans drove from Pattaya to ****kok for the fight.

Apparently Daghio had a fight gym in Pattaya, and had been in Thailand for a while (starting when he was 21). You think about the nearby 200 Muay Thai fights, the MMA and the Boxing and all of the sparring and training and the guy took thousands of punches to the head over the course of around 30 years of fighting. You wonder how much was from that fight and how much was from the accumulation. Regardless, rest in peace and thoughts and prayers to those who who called him a friend or a family member.

It can happen to the young as well. I think standards have improved greatly in boxing in recent, especially around making weight which was critical. Is the MT scene similar in Thailand?

People need to be careful with words. You don't talk about dying fighting or confessing negative stuff like that. No sport is worth dying for. This is really sad especially at such an age.

Boxing is Glorified Bumfights. Everyone who supports boxing is responsible for this.

Yeah man I think Luis Ortiz should get his license revoked. He is 48 years old after all, I don't want to see him get seriously damaged. And he already has high blood pressure damn.

Muay Thai is a bit different though. You take so much damage in that sport that you usually cannot have long careers. Most Thai fighters start at like 13-15 and retire before 25. Somewhat due to the early start but mostly because its SO ****ed on your body/brain.

I feel bad watching this because you can tell way before the finish that he was having trouble seeing punches coming and his gait movement was ****ed. He was very off balance after throwing shots and just looked shaky from the get go.

Rip to a true warrior that apparently loved fighting so much he wanted to do it forever. And bless his family and friends as Im sure they were always worried about this if he didnt quit fighting soon. :/

My heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to his family for their loss. May he rest in peace. Sadly, this tragedy makes the sport of boxing looks bad.

Why would a governing body sanction a 49 year old man to fight in the first place? Unfortunately this is going to bring about sweeping changes in boxing. They are now going to put age limits on fighters before licensing them to enter inside of a professional ring.
