I would genuinely be shocked if this happened. He's been talking about a get back year for this entire year and Porter isn't someone you want to face coming off a two year layoff.

Unification only trumps a mandatory if the challenger defeats the champion in the ring. However in this case, Shawn Porter did not do that.

Porter won a title belt that was simply vacant. Had he defeated the champion Keith Thurman at the time for the WBC title then he would have been granted a voluntary defense of his new WBC title.

Let's just take Canelo Alvarez for instance; The reason why he was granted a voluntary defense of his WBC middleweight title is because he defeated their champion in the ring. However, Shawn Porter did not do that.

Therefore, he gets no voluntary defenses until he fulfills his obligation to the WBC against two mandatory challengers.

Maybe Thurman is pressed by Al to take the Porter rematch if he wants to be an option for a PAC fight in the future. He can't have PAC now since it seems Broner got that first.

Thurman -Porter was the best 147 fight in last years, so, no problem with rematch.

Thurman vs Porter would be a unification but I don't think it's next. I expect an agreement where Thurman steps aside for 1 fight to take on a tune-up then faces Porter afterwards. Hopefully PBC makes the winner fight Spence afterwards.

No, I understand your sentiments Bro. We good. No offense taken. In most cases where a title holder defeats the current titleholder then yes, your argument holds true. However; Well let me allow the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman explain it to you better himself. After all it's his company's rules and protocols that he is enforcing.

Here's the WBC's president Mauricio Sulaiman explaining the current situation with Porter and Spence in his own words. Perhaps he can explain the situation better than I can.

Thurman was told he needed to fight Spence...his response I need at least 2 tuneup fights...

Thurman was told he has to face Porter....**** a tuneup. Let's get it on right now!!

                      Enough said.
