The deal was brokered by Golden Boy Promotions, which in the process will see themselves promoting Alvarez for the foreseeable future.

Golden Boy President, Eric Gomez, told BoxingScene.com - "It's in line with DAZN agreement and we extended with him by like four fights. So he's with us, he's very happy. Both of us have done right by each other."

And to think there were idiots saying he should of left Golden boy back in 2014 after the Schaefer/haymon split from Golden boy. His paydays per year have gone up exponentially and Golden boy just brokered the largest guarantee contract in sports history for him. He clearly made the right decision to stay. So even after the DAZN contract ends he's going to be with Golden boy a minimum 4 more fights. Canelo is a loyal guy he stuck with his trainers who got him to world class when everyone told him to leave them for a bigger names trainer. He stayed with the promoter who got him his first world title shot when everyone told him to leave Golden boy. They got him every fight he wanted and we have never heard a peep about his money not being right. He trusts them they work great together, Canelo is loyal to the guys who got him where he is.

It's a paper title, the real WBA champ dealt with Fielding with ease. Canelo would still only be a 2-division champ in my eyes.
