Not true at all. If boxing was all on apps hardcore fans would be saving money. I mean think about it. You already gotta have cable + Showtime & til recently HBO. Thats like a ~$100/mo for most cats probably. With the current apps you are paying $15/mo & if there was some PBC platform that was another $10 a month its $25/mo.

And we aren't even getting into PPV fights which in the US is gonna add $120-$160 for the year & nothing more on the app side.

further prevent us from getting the fights we want.
This is to be seen as far as I'm concerned. Clearly we've not seen a Big PPV-like streaming card at all. And TR has only had a couple 150k buy type cards thus far so I'll need to see a GGG vs Canelo III, Bud vs Spence or Wilder vs Joshua type card get made to fully believe it myself, but I've been looking at the math with subs & it seems a profitable model in theory to put on big fights. If they can prove it irl still needs to be seen, but I try to be optimistic about a lot of boxing sh^t that I can reasonable see reasonable upside gained in.

Hearn is already telling you this when he says if you want to fight X person, you have to be on DAZN.
Thats a bad look & I think thats more about Hearn feeling himself with Canelo on DAZN & his guys moving to the front of the Canelo sweepstakes more than thats something he'll do. Hearn needs to walk that sh^t back for sure. Made him look ****** & petty. He's winning right now by just being on the DAZN platform & he's being a bad winner.

In fairness Canelo does have a subscriber goals bonus deal which one could compare to a PPV deal where the more buys you do the more money you're getting up to an unlimited ceiling in theory (w/o knowing the exact terms of any PPV deal or what a streaming platform deal looks like for a guy like Canelo).

So that deal isn't as flat as some people are suggesting. And you can just imagine the potential upside here cuz they are paying Canelo $66M & if they get 1M permanent subscribers off the strength of signing Canelo they would be taking in $120M aka $54M in profit a year just off of Canelo. I'm sure Canelo will see a nice chunk of that & I've said I bet the true value of that deal could be 50%+ that $365M number if DAZN becomes a success.

I bet they couldn't afford it. $66M a year + whatever GBP would get is a lot of money to guarantee over 5 years.

Showtime, not unlike HBO, isn't in competition with DAZN as much as boxing fans wanna believe. Showtime is a entertainment platform & DAZN is a sports platform.

So Showtime gots more sh^t to be concerned about then what a startup streaming sports platform is doing. Thats why Hearn & Arum aren't THAT wrong in their believe that Showtime could be on their way out of boxing cuz idk that Showtime Boxing can compete with 2 groups that are more focused on boxing as a more primary income vs Showtime where boxing is almost a vanity project or side thing to their main goals & projects.

My assumption is thats a Haymon thing. I believe Espinoza & Haymon have a very solid relationship & there is a lot of trust there. That said I think that could easily bite Espinoza in the ass & leave him with his **** in the dirt.

And honestly if not for that Fox deal Haymon has I'd say the best move for him would be to sign his own deal with DAZN. Haymon, Hearn & Oscar all on the same platform would be epic for boxing & make so many fights that would be hard to make right now 100% doable on that platform.
They could still change their situation, tell the likes of Wilder, Broner eg to sign a contract with SHO.

Honestly, Boxing gets average ratings on Showtime anyway, are their any really big matchups on the horizon which will attract casuals ? NO

Joshua-Wilder won’t happen unless it’s on DAZN. It would be a sensible option to get out of Boxing and spend that 30-40M they spend on Boxing in Sports Documentaries or some shi*

Whats your leverage if you're Showtime? You won't show any PBC fighters? Who they gonna show then. Thats not real leverage cuz Showtime doesn't got Boxing if not for PBC.

And I know PBC's leverage. We'll go to Fox & if Fox can't fill up our guys' schedule with fights we'll make some deals with DAZN.

I think Haymon is making a smart deal for his fighters & I think Espinoza is making the deal he gots to to have content on Showtime.

Anybody can get FOX for free with an antenna. Anybody can get Showtime for $8.99 without cable. DAZN is $9.99. ESPN+ is $4.99. That's a good amount of boxing for $24 a month.

The problem is that you still have to get cable for ESPN and FS1. DAZN & ESPN+ end up costing what HBO costs, so boxing fans in the end have to spend exactly what they were spending before.

HBO had to get out because they had no depth big name fighters. Showtime does not have this problem. They have a full list of stars.

That's just it, I have no faith in Hearn and set not bob to provide the ppv worthy card and not charge extra for it. Until I see it i don't believe it with these folks. I see the same siht with different names . And if you happen to be in rural America - where most don't have hi speed, just obtaining the necessary streaming speed almost cost as much or more than cable w/ HBO & SHO. If you're in a metro area the overall cost is cheaper due to cheaper net service but for me right now this is causing me more harm than good.

HBO didn't have enough fighters to go on.
Schaefer took all of their fighters and signed them all up with Haymon.
                  Showtime benefited from it.
What;s mind-boggling is they can't come up with a steady stream of fights in a consistent manner.

Well the business model doesn't allow for charging extra. So if Hearn can't provide that he'll just get fired sooner or later.

Fair play on this. I spent a couple months this year in nowhere, Alaska & I felt the pain & frustration of sh^tty internet speeds. I had planned to minimize my internet usage in general, but the slow speeds insured I wasn't using it all that much when I did use it

I think thats a problem being worked on now. I believe that ****** guy, Elon Musk & a few others are working on some sort of global satellite internet companies that should revolutionize the internet sphere. And I've heard 5G should be rolling out in the next year iirc.

That sh^t don't do you much good right now obviously, but I think things will get better its just a question of when.

Lol. Fair enough on the net speed. **** ain't changed in the area I'm at in 22 years. A bit **** changing here no time soon. I'm sure I'll have a diff view this time next year when I'm in a much more metro area.
