You will. Most people won't. Most people are very very ******. If they thought something was on ESPN and find out it's not, they'll just watch whatever is on ESPN instead.

It’s like Netflix. Anything you can watch Netflix on you can watch DAZN on. No excuse.
The excuse is that most people are ****ing ******.

Can’t argue with that. I wont settle for college football but it doesnt mean someone else wouldnt.

Still, people saying that they can dvr or hit netflix or yada its the same with dazn.

Oh, missed a few? Thats cool, you can rewind or watch it after, whatever.

It’s as easily accessible as the rest. In between fights I did my usual — go through netflix, hulu to find what I want. It’s not ppv and because you already paid, watch it at your leisure. Youve got all month. You dont HAVE to watch it live. People are treating this as a live event but it’s not the only way to look at it.

The trick is getting the subscription. Once you have it, we naturally try to get our money’s worth.

Youre not obligated to watch every fight or even live. But, sometimes you can disappear for 30 min on a sat night and throw it on. Listen to it while you drive. Throw it on in the background at work the next day, etc etc. its about options. I watch a LOT less live ESPN/regular tv because theres ways to watch exactly what you want to watch when you want to watch it.

Apps are the new channels/networks. Netflix, DTV now, hulu, dazn, espn, hbo go, etc etc. It’s farther reaching than people think. Gone are the days of explaining netflix and the mail system.

The trick is getting the app. People tend to keep s hit they like. It’s a lot easier to get apps than it is to call to add a channel like back in the day and people impukse buy like a mofo. Only time will tell if the word spreads.

You don't have to sell me on the merits of DAZN. I love DAZN. I've done business with them for years. They pay well, they have a great app, I use DAZN all the time. DAZN is awesome and a tremendous value at $9.99 a month. I watch it way more than ESPN+, HBO or Showtime.

But in terms of growing the sport, attracting new fans, etc, FOX, ESPN and SHO all have millions and millions of viewers that may discover boxing while flipping through the channels.

DAZN is out of sight, out of mind. Someone has to already be a huge boxing fan to know it exists and be willing to spend money every month specifically for boxing, be tech savvy enough to have the proper device, etc.

Boxing moving to premium cable ultimately shrunk the fan base and made boxing less relevant and less popular. Moving to an obscure app is even worse.

Canelo is such a big star though, that hopefully his fans will jump through the necessary hoops to learn how to use DAZN, but you're also going to have a lot of regular people who would hit the button on their remote to buy the PPV that will never bother to sign up for DAZN or find out how it works.

It is good that he knew who Andrade is. He has been in one meaningful fight in his entire career and that was five years ago.

Two fights ago and Andrade wasn't even on U.S. television. At least now it is possible for us to watch him fight.

All we can do is wait and see. It’s not JUST boxing and I think the times are right for this to succeed if it’s ever going to.

The majority of people watching boxing aren’t accidental viewers who stumbled upon it.

I see what you mean. Boxing is easier to watch when you already have the service and are using it. You’re right. However, more and more people are able to subscribe to these same channels and watch ONLY what they want on demand. Hbo with game of thrones or its movies for example which isn’t leaving tons of room for live soorts events. ESPN is indeed a great and established sports platform and having boxing there is great and it’ll indirectly benefit DAZN imo. It’s not just trying to get new fans but also consolidating current ones (like minded combat sport fans) into one platform for longer periods of time.

We just dont know if it’ll catch but I think you’re not giving people enough credit, especially in this day and age.

Options are limited in a sense. HBO just doesnt WANT live boxing. Showtime could potentially follow suit. It’s just a matter of people caring enough for the sport(s). There’s not enough room for everyone on ESPN, FOX, etc but the more fans of the sport(s) there are, the better. The platform isnt the issue here. It’s if people will care.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Andrade just won a belt on an streaming app that has been live for like two months great. What we need is for DAZN to make a big slash, advertise it and make people want to view their content. The same way we support PBC, when Boxnation was live over here they were showing PBC materials, we got to see PBC fights and you know it? It was great for us (Boxing fans). Fights that Skysport wouldn't necessarily pick up were shown to us on it, they provide competition for sky and it was great until they moved to BT sports. So yeah it would take time and its to be expected.

Me: Naw he's fighting on a new app

                  Barber: On the ESPN app?

Me: No. A new app called DAZN

Barber: Yea I heard of that. Imma have to check it out n

The barber knows who Andrade is. He knows ESPN broadcast fights now. He knows about ESPN plus & DAZN. He's not a casual fan but he's not as hardcore as we are. He follows the sport but needed direction me where to watch the fight. IDK if he watched or not. But I know if it was on ESPN he'd watch it because of ease of access.

An American boxer won a major world title and probably only 20k people saw it. Explain to me how this is good for American boxing.
Imagine the same conversation a few years ago except for boxing substitute your favourite tv show back then and for DAZN substitute Netflix.

Has Netflix been good for tv? I'd say so given the quality and quantity of tv shows now being made, some of them with Netflix money. Is it now mainstream? Yes, there are people in their 80's who never managed to program a video recorder who are happily watching it.

                  These new platforms take time.
