In short, it is not good. These media companies are dealing with an existential threat and boxing is being used a way to prepare their defenses...after the circus leaves town boxing will remain as insular and niche as it has been for the past 20-30 years.
How is this good for American boxing?

I wouldn't say its good or bad yet. The reality is ESPN+ has 4 months or so on DAZN so they SHOULD have more influence with casuals just outright. But when you add that they are showing a ton of other sports (f#ck bruh I have trouble FINDING the boxing sh^t on their app half the time, anyone know if you can customize it btw? I don't give a tenth of a f#ck about anything non-combat sports related) & have massive brand appeal in the sports world it'd be weird if a lot of casuals didn't know they had boxing to.
So yea DAZN gots a harder road to influence with the casual fans, but what else are they supposed to do? Change their names to ESPN 2: Electric DAZNoogaloo to trick fans that they are more brand strong then they are? I mean this is just how sh^t works for a new company. So it is what it is vs its bad for American boxing I'd argue.Comment

Right now? Really? Or has boxing been splinters for a long ass time? Cuz I've been a fan forever & boxing has been splintered that whole time. There is nothing new going on with boxing in this regard so idk that its even worth mentioning.Comment

It's more splintered than what we have been used to.
Before you could catch most of the major fighters on either HBO or Showtime.
Now the big names are spread out over more outlets. With some of the outlets not even being tv networks.
I've noticed hardcore fans talking about not having watched these fights. So I can imagine that casuals watched them even less. Since they likely aren't even aware of the changes sweeping through the industry right now.Comment

Fair play. It definitely was the HBO vs Showtime game for a long time. Now we got these less powerful & consolidated platforms vying for power with DAZN vs ESPN vs PBC (Showtime/Fox) so yea you aren't wrong I guess. It's more splintered than what we have been used to.

And yea for sure these new platforms are losing some of the hardcore fans or at least lagging them more on fights.Comment

Yeah, I'm in the give them some time to grow camp.
That said I think DAZN needs to put more effort into DAZN itself known and less into trying to ride off the coattails of popular champions.
Right now DAZN might be as popular as KSW.Comment

I am about as ****** as they come on all that downloading stuff. I looked into getting ESPN app and decided to pass because it was too much like work to watch it for me. I joined DAZN on my computer and it was easy as pie. It only took me a couple of minutes to join and I was watching fights immediately. I like that they show you the entire fight card from the first fight to the last. Also no commercials unlike ESPN who has more commercials than fights. If I can join DAZN so quickly and easily anyone can do the same. The cost is very low and many more top boxers will soon be joining them. I love DAZN. They aren't perfect be they are damn good and I am thrilled they are here.Comment

I will miss most of the big fights being on showtime or HBO but I have to change with the times to continue to watch as much of my beloved boxing as I can. At least on DAZN I can watch their biggest fights live instead of having to wait a week. It's more splintered than what we have been used to.
