Maybe canelo gets beat or knocked out lol, but right now he's saying he believes in himself.
Well, what real reason was there for Golovkin to move up? His goal was to win all of the belts at 160lbs, and he was well on his way to doing it at one point. I don't think there was any need for him to move up - and I still don't - unless a big money fight up there proved too enticing.

I personally am not a big fan of boxers moving up in weight when they don't need to. I would rather see them in their best weight class, where they are most comfortable and we get to see the best of their abilities.

    Edit:
And if Canelo was really trying to say he believes in himself, he would have opted to face one of the real champions at 168lbs, like Smith or Benavidez. I'm sure either would have jumped at the chance to land that fight, no matter when or where it was to be held. I don't have a problem with Canelo taking this fight and testing the waters at 168lbs, but let's call it what it is: he's targeting a weak 'champion' to win an easy belt and call himself a three-weight world champion. No more, no less.

Eh, this is a stay busy fight. Fans shouldn't have a problem with it, he just had a tough one against Golovkin. My only issue is that they'll try to excuse it and build him up like a 3 weight champion afterwards, which will be lame.

Callum Smith is the #1 guy in the division and hits very hard, he hurt Groves as early as like the 2nd round.

Zeuge is German level, you could say the same thing about Jack Culcay a small 154lber from Germany than gave both Demetrius Andrade & Sulecki absolute hell, even hurting them both.

You can also more than discredit Jacobs for losing to Pirog in the fashion that he did as well as getting dropped by Mora.

Regarding the fake title, i totally agree with you. I hate all these fookin meaningless titles. But for some strange fookin reason you're still regarded as a champion and will go down in history as such. That means more to the fighters than us the fans
here's my thing about easy fights, they tend to be the norm and not the exception. Since 2014, Canelo has faced Kirkland, khan, Smith, and Chavez. Those were all fights where he was a heavy favorite. Now I will give him credit for cotto even though he was a 3-1 favorite and Cotto was 10 yrs older and much smaller. He'll get credit for ggg despite waiting 2 yrs until he hit his mid 30s. But, let's not forget, he got a full year break in between ggg fights. Now if I thought he'd fight this fielding guy and then go to a Charlo or jacobs, it'd be cool. But based on how Golden boy operates, I'm more inclined to think he'll take this fight, then fight Lemiuex in May, then maybe go for a trilogy with a 37 yr old ggg. Then we're talking about a pretty long time before he'd really be fighting any top fighter who is at least near their prime age. Maybe I'm being pessimistic but those 2 yrs of fights while he avoided ggg turned me off to how Golden boy handles Canelos career because they know that they'll make money off his fan base as they will still support these inferior fights.

The only reason the GGG fight took so long to make was to build it up for PPV buys reasons. If not that. Canelo would've fought him long ago. You also have to realize now that he's signed to DAZN, he'll probably only fight fighters in DAZN as well. So expect Jacobs, Andrade and whoever else hearn manage to sign. You also have to remember the issues that promoters had with each other. Years passed and TR, PBC and GBP fighters never fought each other. The issues seems to be behind them and the $$ is now guaranteed, so bigger amd better fights should be on the horizon.

That's exactly what I wrote in my post, so I don't disagree. I don't have any problem with him taking a stay-busy fight, especially so soon after his last fight and him being a guy who usually only fights twice a year.

But just call it what it is, don't make it out to be about becoming a three-weight world champion, because we all know Fielding isn't holding a proper world title. The man who knocked him out in one round is the real WBA champion.

No he's not. He taking the easiest option and no twisting of the facts will change that.

I am disappointed with Jacobs with his last two performance, same with Andrade. I hope Andrade don't struggle against the unknown guy. About Jacobs, I feel maybe a upset is coming with Sergiy Derevyanchenko. About Callum Smith, I want him to fight David Benavidez. If Mundo win, then I am going to admit he the real deal. George Groves KO is a good step in the right direction. Also I give Mundo more chance to defeat Uzategi and Zurdo.

Took this guy forever to step up to GGG because he wasn’t a real MW, yet he is quick to take a fight at 168 now. Had to fight JCC Jr at catchweight 165.
