    Golovkin's last few fights.

Has Golovkin looked beatable in his last few fights because of age, or because he's finally fighting guys who aren't total bums?

A little of both probably. But let's be real, the guy is damn near a decade older than Canelo and he still arguably won both fights

I'd say that the last was a toss up but the first fight, to me, was a crystal clear Golovkin victory

GGG at his peak vs Canelo at his peak? I'd take Gennady and by a pretty sizable margin

obviously there are elements of both. he's both aged and fighting better competition. there is also a matter of styles. kell brook was a WW and faster than your avarage MW by a mile. canelo has fast hands. jacobs is an athletic fighter. golovkin always had problems with guys who could beat him to the punch and keep from getting back up by the jab.

Well nobody said he was too old BEFORE he fought Canelo. All his fans said he would DESTROY Canelo. He was a killer right? Missed 500 punches scared to throw any body punches because of Canelo's hand speed not because of age and outlanded in power punches to the little guy. Excuse was Canelo ran that's why GGG didn't look like a killer. If Canelo fights Mexican Style he get's KOd easy in the rematch. GGG get's whooped a second time this time misses 600 punches, lands even fewer body punches, is outlanded by a even wider margin of power punches and this time can't use Canelo is running excuse because GGG was walked down and got his face broken by the little guy. But there was a fight inbetween the Canelo azzz whoopings oh yeah he fought another in a long line of bums in May and guess what...he looked like the killer again.

Age has nothing to do with it. His dreadful competition made him look like a killer destorying bums and tomato cans. The moment he stopped fighting bums all a sudden he is old...funny how that works. If he fights Vanes, Dominic Wade, Rosado and the rest of them bums again you will see vintage GGG. But this is what happens to hype jobs when they fight real competition

you end up showing up to the press conference like this

And everyone there is like this

Honestly, who couldn't beat GGG to the punch? Speed has never been one of his assets, its been his timing, and his footwork.

And yeah, they are slipping some. Its clearly a mix of him facing better opposition, but then there is some clear signs that father time is starting to catch up.

I am in agreement, that its going to be hard for GGG to perform better in a rematch.

But... we all said that about Marquez also... granted Pacquiao was also starting to slow down so.

I think its 70% comp 30% age. If GGG was still fighting the usual level of guys he still be winning by KO. Now that he is in with better comp, he gets hit more, the fights go longer, so he is forced to use more energy, he's far more tired, so he looks old where he wouldn't if the fight ended in the 2nd round like Vanes.

When you barely fight into the 7th round, you are going to look old in fights that go the distance.

it's with timing and footwork that a slower fighter is able to make up gaps in speed. in his prime he had just enough speed of grey matter to make up for any handspeed gap against the mediocre opposition. he also didn't fight a lot of fast fighters, if you recall, and benefitted hugely from the crop at MW at the time omstly being flat footed fighters. macklin, murray, rubio, etc, are comically slow for "championship" level middleweights.

faster fighters with timing and who committed, like stevens, brook, obviosuly canelo, were able to beat him to the punch at times, but it wasn't like he was playing catchup his entire career. he faced a lot of slow fighters and they made him look really, really good.

Most of it is due to competition I think. Canelo and Jacobs were clearly the 2 best fighters that GGG has ever fought, and Brook is up there too even though he's a welterweight. It isn't a surprise that he looked more beatable.
