Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Not Ruling Out Canelo vs. Golovkin Trilogy

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who handles Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), is not ruling out the possibility of a trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) in 2019. Last month at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo won a twelve round majority decision over Golovkin to capture the WBC, WBA middleweight world titles.

GGG had to backpedal his way to a safe 12 rounds in the second fight

De La Hoya: "We are going to do what is right for boxing and Canelo, the rest does not matter. The most important thing is that people see the best fights."

"Belts and mandos are not problem. We can fight GGG in may no matter what"

No need for the 3rd fight. GGG has already beaten Canelo twice. He will get robbed again.

Lol at best it is 1-1. Your boy is showing his age, Canelo makes it very clear if they do fight again. At least it will be another great scrap.

Enough is enough with these 2. We know that neither can ko the other. We know that ggg will continue to Outland and out work Canelo but will never get the decision. Go fight one of the other legit threats at mw

Time to move on; GGG will never get the decision in Vegas even if he was the only one throwing any punches, and if he couldn't KO Canelo the 1st 2 times then he won't in a 3rd fight when he's a little bit older still.
Lemieux and Charlo are decent contenders for Canelo to fight in lieu of a unification, and if you include Murata's WBA regular title then GGG has 3 other belts to chase and attempt to end his career on a high.
