Personality is one thing. A lack of crossover stars really hurt main****** appeal.
Most casuals can’t name one major champ, including Canelo.
I didn’t really any main****** buzz for the rematch outside of sports talking heada.
I remember back when Tyson fought Lewis the Lakers were in the playoffs and all Shaq wanted to talk about was who was going to win the next night. Boxing used to be a major sport. Now it’s so niche and will continue to be in the US with HBO getting out.

Some of the younger posters were not around in his time. There have only been 2 boxers in my lifetime that were on the front page of newspapers worldwide. Not just front of the sports page. Everyone including people who didn’t watch boxing knew who Mike Tyson was. The same can’t be said about any other boxer since he retired. I could go to work & I bet I could find people who have no idea who the Klitschkos, Roy Jones, Pacquiao & Mayweather are. Some may have heard of Mayweather only because he fought McGregor. There won’t ever be another Tyson. Mike Tyson was champion when being the Heavyweight boxing champion of the world meant something in the world of sports. When HW boxing flourished so did the sport. Ali & Tyson the 2 biggest faces in boxing history. A case can be made for all of sports history.

You need a Naz. Not a Broner.

Lack of action fighters, lack of bonafide knockout punchers, no one fights each other and even when they do it's a few years too late, boring personalities, etc, etc

Remember guys like the fab four, Tyson, etc. They were bad dudes who wanted to kill fighters in the ring. Guys like Ali had brash colourful personalities and we're genuinely entertaining. It just ain't the same kid.

There's too much competition from other sports including MMA. You have whole networks dedicated to other sports. GOLF HAS IT'S OWN CHANNEL!!! The UFC blew up in the last 10-15 years. They offer a lot more programming on more than one platform. Meanwhile Boxing is waging civil war with different promoters, networks, and now we've gone as far as America vs Europe. Getting into trouble won't help. The only reason Ortiz made headlines is because he appeared in one or two movies. If that wasn't the case it wouldn't make news anywhere outside of boxing.

Exactly people get so easily offended over the small sh**!! And with social media out now and people recording everything it makes guys mind their manners a little more. And the ones who are outspoken lose fans as soon as they take that first L lol

That fool is afraid of full random VADA testing from the WBC! AJ will never leave his magical hog***** home, hometown judges, refs, and familiar middle-earth hospital staff!!! ($80 million+ guaranteed) isn't important to Joshua/Hearn, and he will take a paycut to face Wilder at home.. for his fans., an Wilder is the fight the fans all want.. and eddie says this will be the biggest fight in heavyweight history.. but giving Wilder more than a $15 million flat is a joke because Wilder is a birdleg windmill bum with a bum resume, who AJ can KO in 3rds. Which is why AJ told his fans to go to the gym and train to fight Wilder and AJ said give me 50 million and I will take that fight tomorrow... then said "let's roll" with a fire emoji.. then all of a sudden its "im not selling my soul.. ! Hearn said Wembley isn't available in September for Wilder.. because Wilder took to long to sign, eddie said maybe cardiff in October, November,.. then all of a sudden it's Povetkin September 22 live at Wembley! LMAO!!! Not to mention up to a week before the WBA 24 Bullshyte.. eddie still sent contracts with no date or location.. wtf!! Thats a fact!! But Wilder ducked AJ doe???.. lol. This is wild.. Ok.
Damn! Well said AGAIN!.....Mike has some very good points though. At the moment, there are no larger than life personalities on the scene. Mikey Garcias "ambition" is a nice reprieve, but I can't think of ONE 'stand out' whose "personality" has me gripped, Mayweather was the last & Mike before him....This ordeal, its not such a bad thing, its just that these new guys happen to be more reserved, but it doesnt bode well, it seems, for boxing...I'm still always gonna watch, because at least they arent missing in the "skilz" dept.

But the JUICED android over there on the island is only thriving because the boredom level over there has reached circuit overload pub drinkin' schizophrenia!! Plus the super hero look-a-like has gotten its super powers the old fashioned way - not from a radioactive spider or from gamma radiation - he's gotten it from the good ole' PED UK laboratories!! With the confidentiality agreement of Hearns Sr. & Jr. leading the way!!

Now greedy condescending Hearns demands that Wilder "sign now" BEFORE Wilder can take a significant step in upping his career earning power & popularity?!?....Hearn believes Wilder deserves no such opportunities(?), just the "opportunity" to CHASE his JUICED can-can to no end - offering nothing respectable, while admittedly giving every other lesser opponent "overpaid" money(?)....A FIRST in the history of heavyweight boxing!!

MMA isn't all that great. I watched MMA religiously for a while especially the ultimate fighter show and it just doesn't fill the void the way boxing does and the fights that are decent they try to force you to buy the ppv for it even with B and C level guys. I prefer the sweet science all day long.

Joshua is in the top 2 of the money making machines in the sport.

Canelo also doesn't blow doors down in the eating of peoples children department.

The ones who DO light things up are the Broners, Saunders, Fury, Del Boy etc. Fury and Saunders have a case for being top level, but the other two are just circus sideshows.

At the end of the day, talent rules. Loma, Joshua, Bud, Mikey are all just fine. Some had the double-header of talent+personality, Mayweather, Ali, Tyson etc, but its never been different. Hagler, Hearns, Holyfield, Lewis all had talent but didn't light up the airways with anything other than their talent.

                      Nothings changed.
