Haymon and Showtime killing HBO CELEBRATION THREAD

Thats why HBO deserves for banning the al haymon stable, mostly consisting of young great americans

They tried to push eastern euro's as a result and it backfired. Then Top Rank leaving was the nail in the coffin

Not really sure this benefits anyone.

In some ways they ought to have tried to do a deal with DAZN to show re-live for a cut price, say a week after the live fight?

the only thing haymon has killed is interest in american boxing, what stars has he built recently? HBO pulled out cause people arent interested in boxing any more save for canelo, pacquiao and joshua. Theres more money to be made elsewhere

Once they didnt resign Floyd Mayweather it was over for them. Then they decided rather emotionally to ban all Al Haymon fighters, forcing Haymon to create the PBC. They did this to themselves.

Showtime runs boxing now and it's undeniable. Just look at all the great fights they put on this year.

          Haymon is a legend

The OP beat me to this thread.

HBO shot a burning slug into their own heads in 2013 when they banned Haymon fighters from their network.

They had plenty of time to mend that fence and didn't care to.

I don't celebrate ANY carrier getting out of boxing.

            But, this was SOOOOOOO avoidable...

I don't think this has anything to do with showtime or anything to do with haymon. This is about Netflix and how they shook everything up. It's not that HBO can't compete with other boxing networks it's that they don't even want to compete. They don't think boxing matters to their bottom line. They want to invest their money in movie and tv shows to compete with the real gorilla which is Netflix and other streaming services like them.

Their current stable can't compete with showtime's or ESPN. They really shot themselves in the foot by banning haymon because he by far has the biggest stable in boxing. Things could be looking a lot differently if they didn't do that.

The only thing worse than fighter fanboys are network/promoter fanboys.
