The assertion that the fight made more money has not been corroborated.

The only numbers that we know for sure are the live gate (released by an independent source) and PPV buys of 1.1M (reported by Pugmire and Iole).

Those other figures are coming from somebody at GBP (according to Dan).

The fight was a success anyway so I don't get the shadow games lol
regardless who it came from it the fight sold 1.1M it made more money. The first fight generated 110m from the PPV + Live Gate. 1.1M at $85 = 93.5M + 23,473,500 = 116,973,500

4th alltime largest Live Gate and MORE money regenerated from the first fight. And none of this includes the streaming ppvs that according to fat boy is higher then the first fight by 25% which just makes logical sense more people today have cut the cord then last year so the only way to purchase the fight if you don't have a cable provider is streaming which doesn't count in the PPV sales (those are only cable and satellite figures reflected in the 1.1M). So they made more money before they even touch digital PPVs.

      Well 1.3M x $80 = $104M
      The gate = $27M
So off those figures alone the gross for fight 1 was at minimum $131M. (Not including closed circuit, etc.) So I think your math is a little off lol

That's a monster of a number. Other fighters are dreaming of this type of news.

so if they fight a 3rd time and ggg wins you really dont think they will have a 4th fight?? so the boxing world including canelo and ggg themselves would be totally fine with each fighter being 1-1-1 against each other? the reason their is boxing is to determine who the better fighter is so if both are 1-1-1 no one knows whos better. They would HAVE to have a 4th fight!! Its a no brainer., Lets just hope they leave it as is. i have NO interest in a 3rd fight nevermind a 4th one

Thats what I noticed also. They spent jack sht on promoting the fight and CHEAP ass HBO didnt do jack sht to help.

that wasn't the price of the first PPV. lol it was 69.99. This one started at $85 and as high as $100 depending where you bought it. The first fight reported revenue was 110M.

This fight has already surpassed that because they hiked up the PPV cost. 1.1M sold means the live + PPV revenue of the rematch is higher then the first fight.

Too bad, since the second fight was way more exciting.

First fight was good, but kind of a let down considering the hype. I'm sure that had some effect on the ticket sales for the rematch, as well as Byrd's scorecard.
