Comments Thread For: Cunningham: I'll Resurrect Lubin, Guarantee He Will Rule at 154

Super welterweight contender Erickson "The Hammer" Lubin (19-1) returned to the winner's column in April when knocked out journeyman Silverio Ortiz in 4 rounds in El Paso. The fight was his first since his first round stoppage loss to Jermell Charlo last October in a Showtime televised bout.

Cunningham imo is one of the sports best trainers, but you cant guarantee that if Lubin's packing glass. Maybe Charlo was on the juice and/or landed the perfect shot and his chin is fine idk

I'm interested to see him back in there with a live dog. I'd give him the J-Rock treatment. Give him Ishe Smith than a mid level contender like Gallimore or Justin DeLoach.

Lubin got thrown in there with Charlo too early in his career,, he didn't have the right fights before hand to prepare himself for a title shot.
It looked like Jermell took his soul in that knockout loss

That KO was brutal IF Lubin can shake it off mentally and continue to come with the same confidence the kid will be fine. Hopefully that "Bomb" isnt stuck in his mind which can cause certain fighters to become cautious.

Some of yall mofos are exaggerating saying lubin has a glass chin acting like charlo doesn't knock out ppl. Lubin was americas best amateur since ward. I feel like he will rule the division and would beat overated basic munguia.

People say he got thrown in too early, but that is in hindsight. Lubin is a superb talent that got caught with a great shot. His handlers need to be a bit careful for another six to nine months and then put him in with a real test. Not like time is against him or something. Skills wise I'd say he can definitely hang with Charlo or anyone at 154.

                    Wonder when he fights next.
