Number of Punches Determines a Winner?

And that scenario never happens now in the pros? It happens often with things as they are. If he's running so much, I don't see him being successful. He still have to land punches. The motto in this game is hit and not get hit. A system where punches landed equals the winner abides by that rule to a tee.Opinions dont a certain criteria does like I told you 3 times already...if it were set up like you say a really fast fighter could go and slap and tap a rival for half a fight then run around for the rest of the fight because he's ahead on points and win a bout by running for half of the time...most fight fans wouldn't want to watch that and it wouldn't sell as much. If thats your idea of winning fights go watch the amateurs.Comment

Right. You could score a round like it’s own fight, handing out points to each fighter as u go along. Just gotta keep it consistent. As it stands today even rounds should not be discouraged. This makes those pesky hardly any punches thrown first rounds worth too much.Comment

Yet, another case where you would have had a winner instead of a draw. Dulorme with 124/420 while Vargas landed 122/521. If it came down to punch numbers, Dulorme gets the biggest victory of his career. Instead we get three opinions that proclaim it's a draw. So satisfying for the fans....

You still going with this ****** idea? You want to score fights with what a guy with a clicker says landed or not?Yet, another case where you would have had a winner instead of a draw. This bit particularly stands out.
"On June 9, 2012, Tim Bradley won a controversial split-decision over Manny Pacquiao. In the days that followed, much of the criticism of the judges focused on Round 7, which was labeled “the smoking gun.” The CompuBox “punch-stats” had Pacquiao outlanding Bradley in Round 7 by a 27-to-11 margin. Yet all three judges scored the round for Bradley.
Thereafter, I studied videos of Round 7 in Pacquiao-Bradley I from multiple camera angles in their entirety ... several times ... in slow motion ...
Bradley outlanded Pacquiao 16-to-12 in Round 7 of their first fight. That’s a huge difference between reality and the CompuBox numbers.
You, the reader of this article, can watch Round 7 of Pacquiao-Bradley I on YouTube and make your own judgment."
and this
"Once again, a Manny Pacquiao fight is instructive. CompuBox calculated statistics for the July 2, 2017, fight between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn off a TV monitor and reported that Pacquiao outlanded Horn by a 182-to-92 margin with a 10-9 edge in punches landed in Round 1.
I won’t quarrel with the notion that Pacquiao landed 10 punches in Round 1. But I watched Round 1 of Pacquiao-Horn several times the same way that the CompuBox operators watched it. Off a TV screen. And I think that Horn landed 18 punches, not 9. That’s a big difference."Last edited by Robbie Barrett; 10-15-2018, 05:38 AM.Comment

Beyond this, your argument here seems to focus on how compubox is flawed. Well, what if it wasn't? You can't tell me that three opinions deciding the fate of any sports event is not corrupt. Haha. What if they went by opinions instead of points in basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, football, etc.? No way in hell that would fly.Comment

If a punch lands or not is an opinion. Nothing punches that maybe/maybe not land can win fights. Did counting punches stop corruption in the amateurs?Comment
