He did BUT Pavlik did move up 10 lbs for that fight. A lot of people don't like to talk about that.

I'm thinking here that a lot of them are in MMA because they have wrestling backgrounds and wrestling is very popular with whites in America even at high school level?

wrestling is popular in a few states / parts of teh country in high school, and it's mostly white people. it's also a decently popular sport in colleges. UFC rules hugely benefit wrestlers [and i think for this reason; to get american talent to the top 10 and ideally holding a belt.] that you can't kick or knee a downed opponent and the fact that they fight in a cage are the two big ones.


scholastic athletics and their support systems are typically what separate american athletes from the rest of the world. there are college football teams in the states that generate 150 million a year in revenue, it is a massive business and provides a ton of support for athletic talent and an incentive to cultivate it early and steer it into two sports [basketball and football,] when kids are young.

kelly pavlik was the middleweight champion of the world. he had a very solid career, it's just a shame that he wasted a few more good years. nobody was expecting him to reign for a long time, but i expected him to be a threat for a while with his chin and his punching power.

unfortunately people hwo get punched int he head for a living somtimes turn out to be idiots, and kelly stood out among them for being extra idiot and a drunk to boot.

He was overrated by those wins against Taylor but that guy was prettty normal and only had one win against a good rival in Taylor
