Garcia needs to understand that "effective aggression" went out of the window long ago. Judges typically favor more activity, even if it isn't as effective as a guy landing sharper shots. Porter also controlled pretty much all of the movement in the ring as well, cutting it off effectively, walking his man down, and literally chasing Garcia at times. Finally, Garcia pulled the classic "but my stats doe" excuse that I've heard from users here, forgetting that fights are scored 3 minutes at a time, and that judges don't review numbers after it's over. Still a fan, it would be nice to hear him admit that he contributed to his own loss.Last edited by doom_specialist; 09-11-2018, 04:28 PM.Comment

Yup, I agree. But there was nothing really effective about Garcia's aggression in this fight. If anything, Porter's aggression was effective in that it bewildered Danny and kept his output (maybe not accuracy, but output) down. Danny had to step out of his comfort zone in this fight and failed to do so. And what is that comfort zone, the role of counterpuncher. He's very good at that when the pace allows. However, that was not the case on Saturday with Porter. The pace Porter gave him did not allow for effective counterpunching or effective aggression on Danny's part.Garcia needs to understand that "effective aggression" went out of the window long ago. Danny had to become the aggressor over Porter. He needed to turn this into a dog fight and force counterpunch openings. But this is not his wheelhouse so he waited...and waited...and waited. And in the end he paid the price. It's a shame, too, because had he been the effective aggressor, I think Danny would have either won by knockout or an undisputed decision.
If Garcia had only thrown 3 punches and landed all 3 he would have had a 100% landing stat. But it would not have won him the fight. I know that's exaggerating, but the idea is the same. He fought well, but not often enough to keep the onslaught by Porter at bay.Comment

Danny, you fought admirably and yet, cautiously! You fought to win a decision, but you're not good enough to fight like that! Ask Broner! Ask Lara! Ask Canelo! Ask Juan Manuel Marquez! ***** happens! Call Al, and call Bob Arum! In order of priority: Crawford, Mikey, or Broner! SALUTE!!!Comment

Danny has been down on the cards in every fight he's ever had and his power couldn't bail him out this time.Comment
