    true

also, speed is not some magic bullet

plenty of fighters beat opponents who were faster

you need enough speed to get your game going, and to be effective..... it is about the total package, like you said

    which describes Golovkin perfectly

Golovkin had no problem getting his game going against lower-level opponents

I don't think Golovkin's hands have slowed down considerably. He never was a guy who blinded his opponents with his speed. His reflexes maybe diminished but his hand speed in the first fight got the job done.

You look at someone like Wladimir Klitschko who was born in Kazakhstan, as well, and he was still prime at 36. This fight is interesting because Canelo has 1/4 more fights than GGG at a much younger age. I don't know if that is taking it out of him like Sanchez spoke of Vargas or not. And Golovkin definitely doesn't have the miles despite being older.

Couple that with VADA being so heavily involved and Canelo having a year of ring rust (B-Hop saying the rust is real at any age), and this could be a pretty fun fight. If the drug rumors are true, Canelo may return to that tiring of fights past and may try to swing like Golovkin knowing 12 rounds of that guy in your face would be tough to muster, and we'd all get treated to a pretty fun fight.

Ggg has had a long career.

36 year old Canelo will be retired or he will be still fighting glass jaws or drained zombies or older small divas.
At age 36 (don't see him fighting that long), Canelo will have a way more decorated resume than anything GGG can dream of, even if he loses to a few journeymen along the way.

Your guy at retirement doesn't even have the resume of a Canelo at age 27 (now).

GGG, if anything, overachieved, steamrolling bums and ducking novice, second tier middleweights.

GGG did well for himself nonetheless.
