Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Based On What I've Seen, Difficult to Call Golovkin Old

Canelo Alvarez began boxing as a professional six months before Gennady Golovkin and has 13 more fights on his pro record. The 28-year-old Alvarez is the notably younger fighter, however, eight years younger than the undefeated middleweight champion he'll fight again Saturday night. Golovkin turned 36 five months ago and some fans and reporters suspect age could give Alvarez a decided advantage in their 12-round rematch at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Well if Abel said it, then it must be true. Sure thing.

It is not the same GGG. He was not fast in the past, but now he is much slower than GGG 4-5 years ago. The interesting thing is: peaking prime Canelo couldn't beat 36 year old version of GGG.

36 year old Canelo will be retired or he will be still fighting glass jaws or drained zombies or older small divas.

It can happen overnight. See Wlad vs Fury where Wlad looked old.

GGG was 35 a year ago. NOW he is 36. Lets see what happens. Canelo hasn't fought for 12 months and GGG aged.

No, here its the other way around. Superman GGG wasnt able to KO Canelo, even landing some impressive shots. There wasnt even a single shot that made his legs go crazy.

GGG may be "old" in the sense that he's 36 but he isn't old. I haven't seen any real signs of aging.

Anyone that believes a 36 year old athlete is the same as he was when he was 30 is clueless. Abel has to say ggg is in his prime.

                    Ex-GGG promoter, Rodney Berman, says:

"Regrettably, if my heart was in it Golovkin would win the fight, but from what I saw in Golovkin five or six years ago in Monte Carlo and in his last fight – time is definitely catching up with him.

“I, unfortunately, think Canelo is going to take this fight on points and possibly a late stoppage, I don’t think anybody would agree with me.”

                    I say GINGER SNAPS!
