Good for Bud and his family because they are important but he will now never face the top welterweights fighting on ESPN and resigning with Top Rank

I really think it’s true. I genuinely think that one of the sticking points in negotiating this new deal is guaranteeing him that he can fight anyone he wants"can fight as many times as he wants and we'll fight anybody. So we're not going to play teams or affiliations. This is all about working with everybody and making the best fights for the biggest guys out there, making the sport bigger."
I'll believe it when I see it. And I hope I do. Would be a nice change of pace to see more guys working together at the highest levels more often.
Don't know how they can work it out so that it makes sense for all doe.Comment

Like when Spence went to the UK to fight Brook or when Wilder went to Russia to fight Povetkin?Comment

Honestly, not sure; the Haymon guys that went over to fight Crawford at 140 seemed to get around $500k for the trip. How much have his opponents been getting?
But yea I definitely feel like we are going to be seeing Bud vs Saucedo, Bud vs Bes***** & Bud vs Kavaliauskas in the next 2 years vs the fights we wanna see Bud in. And maybe a random mandatory or two who may not be TR affiliated.
Still, with Crawford now on an apparent $3m a fight, even if he gets fighters at 147 to come over for $500k (doubt that'd work for anyone in the top 15, tbh), the numbers don't make sense. Crawford generating enough business to offset $4m in outlays?Comment

What i took from that bomac interview was that the reason they resigned with top rank is because of ESPN,they figuring ESPN is owned by Disney, and disney got a monoply on Hollywood right now,so they thinking ESPN gonna be able to offer spence and the Harmon fighters what ever they want to come fight, the problem is bomac not taking into account the boxing budget gonna be alot smaller than the movie budget, bud is not the avengers and I dont see them investing but so much in him especially when he does average numbersComment

Holy f#ck lmfao. If you are right that'd be hilarious & par for the course with boxers & their teams too often awful logic with boxing business sh^t.What i took from that bomac interview was that the reason they resigned with top rank is because of ESPN,they figuring ESPN is owned by Disney, and disney got a monoply on Hollywood right now,so they thinking ESPN gonna be able to offer spence and the Harmon fighters what ever they want to come fight, the problem is bomac not taking into account the boxing budget gonna be alot smaller than the movie budget, bud is not the avengers and I dont see them investing but so much in him especially when he does average numbers
So me personally I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt & not have them thinking there is gonna be a Mickey Mouse logo for Bud's next fight.Comment

Yea I wouldn't disagree with any of this outside of maybe how highly a ranked guy he could get with a 500k carrot.Honestly, not sure; the Haymon guys that went over to fight Crawford at 140 seemed to get around $500k for the trip.

If Bud is to get one of these career defining fights with Spence or Thurman or perhaps even todays winner it'll have to be on PPV I tend to believe. And with that there is issues of there being enough money to split up between rival promoters & platforms & agreeing in general which needs to happen before the fight could happen. And I couldn't really blame these fights not happening on anything more than the business of boxing which has been the biggest problem for the entertainment of boxing & for boxing fans.Comment

Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia split a disclosed $4m for their fight on CBS.Yea I wouldn't disagree with any of this outside of maybe how highly a ranked guy he could get with a 500k carrot.

We've yet to see what DAZN is willing to put up, but don't make the mistake in thinking that the money isn't there (albeit the new deal making things more difficult). Egos are what they are, however.
Crawford made out with the bag though; hopefully he's got good people around to make sure his affairs are handled properly for him and his children.Comment
