I thought the point of PBC was to bring world class fighters to free television. It started off that way but now it seems like everyone that matters only fights on showtime and nobody fights on CBS anymore
It's a consolidation of content, overall. Showtime/CBS deliver 15-18 Showtime Championship Boxing events every year (counting SHO International and SHOPPV), and that will cap at a little bit higher with the new deal; 30 dates has been put out, but it's unclear if that counts ShoBox.

FOX/FS1 is delivering 22 dates (had pegged the number at 25-30 dates) with 10 dates on FOX (had guessed 4-6 dates for FOX).

Showtime will still get their pick of the name fighters and big fights, but there are, or will soon be, more name fighters than Showtime has dates for, with PBC on FOX extending the dates for fighters to still get Showtime-level money by 10 dates.

If Spence gets 3 dates, Mikey Garcia and Wilder get at least 2, Gervonta Davis wants to be more active, Leo Santa Cruz wants to fight twice a year, Adonis Stevenson wants 2 dates a year, the Charlos want to be active, etc, you run out of headlining dates pretty quickly.

David Benevidez is building something in Arizona that needs to get shine, Omar Figueroa Jr is still worth paying attention to, Jamal James and the rest of the Minnesota boys are building something to see in Minneapolis, there's a slew of promising US-based heavyweights bubbling just under Wilder, and a lot of the pups are either getting to that gutcheck point (Perrela, Gallimore, Barrios, etc) or are working their way back for another shot (Lubin, Williams, etc). And that's before you place fighters like Elieder Alvarez back into the mix.

Fans get the chance to see a lot of those stories play out on FOX/FS1

What's a "throwaway card" though? It's not a gigantic fight, but would FOX earnestly be miffed with getting a fight like Thurman-Lopez before Thurman would proverbially head back to Showtime/CBS?

Luis Ortiz vs Dominic Breazeale or the Martin-Kownacki winner isn't a fight to be sad to get for FOX either.

Good fights are still good fights.

CBS is the stage for where Showtime has a massive fight for their budget, but not yet a fight that the outlay for PPV would warrant just yet. Spence vs Danny Garcia (I think he smokes Shawn Porter, tbh) as an example, though Showtime likely takes the gamble.

Danny Jacobs ended up with a long-term deal with HBO, with the relevant fighters at 160lbs also with HBO, so he's fine. Tevin Farmer found a home to feature him, as did Jessie Vargas and Amir Khan.

Jarrell Miller was stuck where he was, but he took the two-fight deal, will show out on DAZN, and is betting on the deal ending with him being mandatory or positioned for a big fight.

Not sure how this deal would've affected the guys you mentioned, tbh

              ^^^pretty much this

With Pacquiao refusing to get fed to him, Crawford is stuck for a good while.

Maybe he pulls a Floyd and buys out his deal when it comes due; then again, maybe Crawford is cool being Tim Bradley, a good fighter who was content to fight whomever Arum put in front of him for his contracted guaranteed money.

The only person this effects is Demetrius Andrade. Had multiple chances to sign with PBC but chose Hearn and DAZN. If he wins vs BJS he'll be fine but if he loses tham what?

It is a shame what these Hearns have done, a bunch of **** sucking liars!!!!!
As long as Joshua stays in the UK and doesn't lose, he's perfectly fine where he is. It's not the billion dollar fighter that was being put out there with the comparison to Floyd, but $30m a fight isn't a bad gig to have.

Povetkin in September, Whyte 2 in April 2019, IBF mandatory (Pulev-Hughie winner) by August/September 2019, WBA mandatory (Charr-Oquendo winner vs Miller winner) in early 2020.

$120m, for 4 fights, basically being a super-sized Joe Calzaghe.

... You could just by a Google Chromecast and have the same experience... have basically been doing that for years at this point. Showtime app, with the cast to my TV.
