Everyone was guessing at the number of fighters with Haymon then, and they're likely still guessing now.

Simply put, Haymon works with a ton of fighters: vets on their way out, prime guys, young guys breaking out, and guys just starting their journeys. The absolute number is unclear, but now, with Showtime/CBS and FOX/FS1, Haymon has more TV opportunities for his fighters to utilize (need to actually sit and do the count, but this may be consolidated down from the combined Showtime/PBC schedules from FY 2015, 2016, or 2017)

It actually looks like most major fighters are in a comfortable position but im pretty sure the powers that be will continue leaching fighters from each other. Who do you guys have jumping ship

Respect to Haymon. This deal has been floating around as a rumor for awhile.

Lotsa money in boxing right now. HBO is rumored to have a $20M-$30M budget. Showtime is throwing $50M to PBC per year mostly it sounds like. Fox is throwing $50M a year to PBC. DAZN threw Fast Eddie $120M a year. ESPN is giving Bobby Arum $30M+. Thats a lot of mfing money. Upwards of $300M a year.

With that much money they are either gonna be overpaying the f#ck outta guys, assuming you can overpay guys taking punches to the head & putting their life on the line for entertainment, or they are gonna need to start working together to insure they pay guys big for the fights fans wanna see even if fake lines in the sand need to be crossed to make certain fights. Here's hoping for the latter.

There was another poster on this site who was trying to argue that Top Rank was sitting on a fortune from ESPN, yet couldn't produce even a guess at a source. Any info would be much appreciated.

[Note: talked with another poster about the DAZN deal, and the idea that the deal is actually an escalator (worth $1b were they to get the full 8 years) with only the first two levels guaranteed. ie $40m, $65m, $90m, $115m, $140m, $165m, $190m, $205m for each year, with Hearn only getting the first two years, and the remaining 6 only if DAZN chooses to extend the deal]

This is correct only the first two years are guaranteed. The ESPN figure I believe came from a Disney investor presentation on their rights fees by sports and total spend on ESPN+

Btw, good call on the 10 FOX primetime cards. Thought it would be closer to the six range not 10.

Advertising buyers were screaming about the 10. Will be interesting what months they take off. I'd guess around NFL/College Football

true we as boxing fans aren't out of murky waters just yet. Ratings and stars and revenue have to be generated or else boxing will go right back into the fringes. Haymon now has to create a consistently good product while creating a actual brand or atleast stars to carry the show. Its very possible with all the dates on fox and showtime. however now hes no longer just competing with goldenboy and top rank. Hes essentially competing with everyother show in his time slot.


Haymon was an investor in bounce. can anyone name any other tv show or movie hes done. My guess is other than up all night and three brothers hes also done the new movie SUPERFLY and Floyd Mayweather produced "the Boy"

Showtime isn't leaving boxing anytime soon, and Fox Sports have made their commitment to featuring combat sports/entertainment absolutely clear (with clear current price thresholds, of course; with the sale of the assets to Disney, all there's really left with Fox is FOX, Fox Sports (FS1/FS2), Fox News, and Fox Business).

As long as Haymon delivers for Showtime/CBS, and delivers what he's promised to FOX/FS1, the deals aren't going anywhere and will likely grow.

Pretty sure ESPN is paying more than $30 million in license fees. Likely close to double that amount.

not from what I heard Top rank signed something similar to a 360 deal where is getting a piece of everything and some people even say top rank is still paying for fights with a 50 million dollar loan

My point is that the ratings have to match the goal or else boxing will be at a disadvantage once the contracts expire
