Ward is so overrated at 175 it's hilarious. He was clearly 2nd best vs Kovalev and couldn't knock out a bum like Brand. Please, Ward is the most taken care of fighter this generation, gotvevery advantage and exploited corruption in the sport. Roy Jones would have embarrassed Ward in a fairly officiated fight.

That's the fact. Beterbiev was the only man avoided by Kovalev and Ward shamelessly retired to avoid having to defend against him as IBF mandatory.
Beterbiev beats every light heavyweight right now. Kovalev was always a bit overrated and I thought Beterbiev & Bivol were always better even back to amateurs.
Best light heavies in order:
1. Beterbiev
2. Bivol
3. Alvarez
4. Ward
5. Gvodzyk
6. Kovalev
7. Jack
8. Stevenson
Ward was never going to stick around and really campaign at Heavyweight, he only moved up cause of pressure from HBO to fight Kovalev and cause he was close to retirement and wanted his big fight before he left the sport.Comment

Ward would nullify Beterbiev imo. You may think Ward is boring but I think he would figure out and out box all of the current crop. His ring IQ is so high, he may not be to everyone's taste but that doesn't mean he wasn't the best. Look how he controlled Froch, who then destroyed Bute in his next fight. I'm not hating on Beterbiev but he's not really proven himself against any top names. I really doubt that Ward was worried about facing him, Kovalev was on a long run of knockouts, apart from dominating Hopkins and Chilemba, who is very awkward and has an iron chin. That's the fact. There was probably very little financial reward in facing Beterbiev before Ward retired.Comment
