Comments Thread For: Hearn: Joshua Sees Povetkin as Biggest Pressure Fight of Career

Anthony Joshua did not watch heavyweight rival Tyson Fury's latest bout as he is fully focused for the "biggest pressure fight" of his career against Alexander Povetkin, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn. Unbeaten Briton Joshua will put his WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO titles on the line against Russia's Povetkin at Wembley on September 22.

I guess in the sense that he has more to lose than when he fought Wlad. Povetkin doesn't seem to have a lot left either though so I don't feel like this is as big a deal as it would have been 2 years ago.

If a near 40 year old Povetkin ices AJ...does he go down in history as worse than Frank Bruno?

Honestly this is the lowest pressure option that's acceptable for him to take

Its still a tough ask and a good name to have on the record. Povetkins a lil older now so if AJ does win, they'll use that stick to beat him with.

Tough one but I don’t think so. I don’t think Bruno was ever unified Champion. However , if a 39 year old heart patient in Ortiz beat the self proclaimed baddest man on the planet would you have deemed Wilder’s record (39-0) as padded?
