I just read thru the comments and was reminded Weeks was the ref for the Kova-Ward II fight. That's why people are objecting to him. They loved him for the Maidana-Floyd I fight but hate him for the Kova-Ward II fight even though he reffed the same style in both fights

Big difference on getting hit in balls vs. letting them work an inside game.

Im a Ward fan but he should of been warned on a couple of them and the stoppage was just bizarre. In a championship PPV fight with 2 P4P guys Ive never seen a TKO while still standing???

BAYLESS was warning golovkin for every body shot he threw. Weeks is much better and he's old.

No ref is perfect but I'll admit Weeks has dropped the ball TWICE in big fights. 1st was all the excessive fouling he allowed maidanas and mayweather to do in their 1st fight 2nd was the weird stoppage of kov. Even though I think kov was gonna lose or get stopped eventually, he wasnt out on his feet or taking any defenseless blows to the head. He was just crouched over trying to sell it as of he was hurt from being hit low.

Bayless doesn't let's fighters fight, consistently tells guys to "keep them up" when they throw body shots & sometimes too eager to stop a fight.

Byrd woulda been great but his wife f*vcked it up.

He hit nelo with a body shot in the earlier rounds nelo turned his back in an attempt to pivot away from it laterally. Bayless then told golovkin to "keep them up"

i don't remember him stopping the maidana-floyd fight on fouls...horrible false equivalency but what do you expect when you have no substance you have to equate things to make it seem like it was ok.

Maidana literally kneed Floyd in the fight and Weeks didn't even penalize him. WTF was ya'll watching? Maidana was dirty as **** in that fight

Funny thing is after maidana Mayweather 1, Mayweather publicly said he would never have Tony weeks reffing a fight for him or any of his fighters ever again and til this day, he hasn't. And nobody gave him **** for saying it but team GGG objects to having Weeks in there and now it's a problem lol

Can’t recall Esteves working a fight of this magnitude in the past, but he historically lets guys work in close, so he’s fine in my book.
