A PPV in November, and a PPV in January, after not having to pay for a single PPV, outside of Mayweather-McGregor, for three years of great boxing, isn't a bad deal.
Mikey fighting on a co-feature Wilder headlining? Not happening.
Hey, I'm fine with paying for some PPVs myself as long as the match ups are worthy of that. Wilder vs Fury and GGG vs Canelo fit that bill. Then Mikey vs Spence does on name value and just the spectacle of Mikey trying to do something special by beating arguably THE guy at WW.

The only way that a lineage gets re-established, and this isn't something new, is to have a single champion being the only recognized champion, and that didn't happen since Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko weren't ever going to fight each other (even though it's pretty clear that Vitali would've won, imo).
Wladimir was the top heavyweight, but he was never lineal
I assure you he was.
“If the lineal champion retires, dies or moves to another division, the vacancy is typically filled by a box-off between two or more top-ranked contenders.
The third and most recent interruption of the heavyweight lineage came in 2004, when Lennox Lewis retired and vacated the championship. Only when Wladimir Klitschko knocked out Ruslan Chagaev in June 2009, adding The Ring magazine title to his IBF and WBO belts, did a recognized heir to the lineage emerge. Klitschko defended his WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring magazine heavyweight titles on Nov. 10 with a unanimous-decision win over Mariusz Wach at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany. It marked Klitschko's 13th title defense.”Last edited by Boxingfanatic75; 07-31-2018, 09:02 AM.

Neither wilder or fury would risk fighting each other and losing before AJ payday.

If we really sat down and looked, you could find at least 10 times when a title lineage was re-established.
Why act as if it's some impossibility?
