McGirt & Steward are So Overrated!!!!!!

Am I the only one who feels this way? Steward gets so much hype for nothing. The majority of the time he gets boxer who are already champs but people acts like he does something special. Then the guys that he has are usally inconsistent when he gets a hold of them. To me, every guy he puts his hands on underachieves. Taylor really looked no different against Winky then he has in any other fight.

Then you have McGirt who is also highly overrated. What has he done thats so great? He's another guy who gets fighters when there already good and I dont see him making them better. Sure, he turned Gatti into a boxer but its not like Gatti has been great at it. He still looks ****ty most of the times but he gets the win because he's better or has the big punch. McGirt's game plan against Floyd having Gatti trying to outbox him was still the dumbest thing I have ever seen in history. Tarver is good one fight and looks like **** the next and Buddy recently had somone else who I cant think of but he looked like **** also. Now he takes a hot prospect like Julio and gets nearly shoutout. Its like he never has a plan B and his fighters look lost when plan A doesnt work. What he tells them in the corners is dumb.

There are more and more figthers and managers trying to get these guys to train them but I wouldnt go anywhere near them. I still like Goosen better then McGirt. I remember Goosen training Casamayor against Chico and Joel was so aggressive and did anything he wanted to Chico in the 1st fight. Then the next fight McGirt trains him and Casamayor ends up boxing way too much in a passive manor, is not aggressive until the end and when he does get aggressive then he looks good. McGirt lost that fight more then Casamayor.

I also really like Goosen and Roach is good because of not what he teaches outside of the fight but of his actual in-corner advice. He's spot on most of the time.

Mcgirt & Steward remind me alot of Dundee, Duva etc. All they do is inherit the good fighters. Doesn't mean a damn thing.

And by the way, Gatti looks 'good' at boxing only because he boxed a bunch of former featherweights like Leija and Dorin. He looks like **** against people who can match him physically.

I think the problem is you look at the last 2 fights in particular that McGirt has been a part of. He had losing fighters who maybe on their best night still couldn't win. Both fighters were looking for 1 shot the whole time, and that wont work unless you throw the jab. Looking to just throw big shots will never work against a fast opponent.

No man, even before that. Tarver lost to Glen Johnson and still didnt do as well against Roy in his 3rd fight as alot of people thought he would, and Gatti has been winning but he hasnt been impressive in winning but he always finishes with a big punch so people overlook how crappy his boxing has been looking.

Its not a bad ideal to have Gatti boxing because it can extend his career but I dont think he's had Gatti doing it as well as even a average trainer could have. Ive also seen him with other guys who I cant think of now but I remember saying how overrated he looks

Whenever I see Gatti box, I just laugh. It looks so uncomfortable for him. His balance his awful, and his footwork is attrocious. He does have a pretty good jab and he does have that equalizer (the left hook). His boxing is attrocious though, he only uses it against smaller foes like Leija/Dorin/Gamache and all of the powderpuffs he's faced.

Man these two trainers in question are not MIRACLE TRAINERS, if ya believe that, then you've bought into the hype.

However McGirt and Steward are d*mn good. Not Eddie Futch good, then again no one comes close to Mr. Futch.

Goosen is popular amongst fans, because he is all about the basics which the fans are able to comprehend. Unlike the other top trainers.

Anyway just my 2cents, if I were a top pro. I'd definitely hire Buddy McGirt, Nacho Beristain, and John David Jackson.

To say that Emmanuel Stewart is over rated is really showing your lack of knowledge of history and the sport. The man raised champions from scratch in a little basement room in Detroit. Sure he is inheriting fighters now and making some great money. But that is only because in the past he paid his dues, showed his worth and value as a trainer and brought up only one of the best professional boxing teams that I have ever seen. Emmanuel Stewart is not over rated, the only thing over rated in this thread is the thread creators opinion. Have some respect man.
