It's surprising people have started talking Usyk up the HW division. He should be very careful. The HW is not like CW. One punch from any of the A-list HWs may send him to retirement
One punch from Gassiev is usually lights out, unless of course you have a chin.
I'm putting myself on record time and again putting forward the idea that the Wilder Joshua negotiation isn't negotiation. It's promo.
Casual fans don't get it rammed down their throat quite like anyone who regularly reads boxing forums.
It's a bunch of widely published headline grabbing to-and-fros. Both sides know the deal and they're building it beyond the basic viewership.
That's what I believe anyway.
I agree with you.
There's possibly even a pr spreadsheet at Matchroom HQ with a series of 'events' to fuel the narrative, gain media attention, drive social conversations etc.... With the very same spreadsheet sat in Shelley Finkel's office.
and this:
Casual fans don't get it rammed down their throat quite like anyone who regularly reads boxing forums.
is a very good point. Anyone reading here must be sick to death of the whole saga, but for less engaged fans in the UK (and hopefully US) the constant repetition is increasing the chances that they'll begin to value this fight higher.
Too much money involved to fully believe the pantomime we're being served.
Usyk vs Tyson Fury would be fun to watch. Both are movers in their own ways, but Usyk is much more aggressive and offensive. Neither are huge punchers. I'd say Usyk by UD.
I don't know how Usyk or Gassiev would play out in HW - they aren't that big really. But other than Bellew there are no fights for Usyk left at CW and he is the guy who doesn't shy away from a challenge, which means that if (or when) the fight with Bellew falls through, he will be moving up.
