Oleksandr Usyk signals threat to heavyweight division with comprehensive win
"Not since Evander Holyfield 30 years ago has there been a cruiserweight with so much potential at heavyweight as the the father-of-three from Crimea, a region annexed by Russia in 2014 a year after Usyk turned professional.
He will have to contend with a size disadvantage when he steps up as Joshua outweighs him by more than two stones at the moment.
But former cruiserweights -- even middleweights -- have succeeded at heavyweight. After becoming undisputed world cruiserweight champion in 1988, Holyfield stepped up to heavyweight and was 208 pounds (Usyk weighed in at 198¼ pounds for Gassiev) when he knocked out James 'Buster' Douglas to become undisputed world heavyweight champion in 1990.
American Holyfield overcame sizeable weight disadvantages to beat the likes of Douglas, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Rid**** Bowe and Mike Tyson in four reigns as world heavyweight champion."

How about Tyson and Holyfield? See Post # 22!That's not always the case. Roy never wanted to fight any of the big heavyweights like Lennox Lewis. There's a reason he wanted Ruiz. Roy always said he would only move up to HW if the "right" HW was there. Ruiz was a small HW with a belt so he took the chance. Lewis would've been way too big.Comment

True Wilder has never been outboxed by the great talents hes fought or behind on scorecards outside corrupt judges of course , right ? lol
Wilder is the perfect fighter for Usyk to outbox until he gets caught , a guy confused with movement and Wilder only throws 2 punches at once
Szpilka and Ortiz were 2 southpaws outboxing him , Usyk probably loses in similar fashion but makes Wilder struggle badly.Comment

Are people not paying attention to what we just saw? He's a master boxer but was noticeably staying at range and was uber conscious of Gassiev's power. He was able to nullify the threat with his reach, jab, and footwork. But don't forget he was the bigger man in that fight.
Wilder and Joshua are very big men. Wilder has a reach of 84 inches. Joshua 83 inches. If you all don't think that would be an issue for Usyk then you need to go back and watch some of his other fights.
He doesn't hit hard enough to beat those guys. He might be able to catch AJ gassed and put some flurries on him, but that's the only shot. I don't think he sees the final bell with Wilder. That guy would throw something that was long and wild and he'd put Usyk away.
Size has its place here.Last edited by Butch.McRae; 07-23-2018, 05:57 AM.Comment

Usyk is durable , skillful and talented.
He doesn't need to knockout his opponent to win a fight.
If the likes of Takam are impressive at HW, then you can imagine what Usyk can do.
Usyk will no doubt surprise a lot of the notable names at heavyweight.Comment

Also Usyk will go straight after Top 10HWs when he moves up. He will not waste time fighting prospects or mediocre Top 15-20 fighters. IMO after Bellew he will face someone like Whyte,Parker,Miller or Breazeale.True Wilder has never been outboxed by the great talents hes fought or behind on scorecards outside corrupt judges of course , right ? lol
