Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao Should Think Carefully About Next Opponent

By Michael Rosenthal - Manny Pacquiao looked good against a shot fighter. He might be the one who looks shot if he chooses the wrong opponent for his next bout. Pacquiao should be applauded for his performance against Lucas Matthysse last weekend in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, where he pounded the Argentine to the canvas three times and stopped him in the seventh round of a welterweight bout Pacman's first stoppage in almost nine years. In the process, Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 knockouts) demonstrated that he has more to give in the ring at 39 years old. That can't be disputed...

    Khan, Garcia, Broner, Horn.

All in that order. Easy money for Pac, all winnable fights.

Khan and Broner are the obvious choices. Both big names, both have huge flaws and are very beatable.

I couldn't agree more. Stay away from the top 5. 3 are unwinnable, Danny and Porter beats him in my book but close. Khan, Broner, Horn is all he should look at. Good money and better than all 3!

For $10M Garcia in Las Vegas, Khan in UK, Horn down under. But the best is retirement. $$$

Brilliant assessment of Pacman's current state.

The point is clearly expressed in the first sentence. Pacquiao would probably lose against any of the fighters listed by Rosenthal. He has struggled with Horn, and beat Matthysse only because the latter was shot to shreds. The lone thing I liked is that he did not waste energies; but that's all.

He would be too slow for the young guns. Retire now, or let us yawn again with a Mayweather rematch (I, for one, think that their first fight looked like an exhibition already).

Honestly.... Outside of Crawford, I don’t think I’d pick any of these guys over Pac Man....

Pac Man is an extremely skilled future Hall Of Famer. The only guys who beat him are usually insanely gifted counter punchers.

Pac Man’s lost to Horn was a sham and I also believe Pac didn’t train hard for that fight.
