Does and says the kind of things a 20 year old does and says. He has talent and confidence, we’ll see soon enough how far it takes him.

Damn can the guy not have confidence? If he had said I want to take my time and not rush into anything people he would call him scared or a cherry picker.

His father didn't teach him to be humble which would explain his character. When you get too confident in your game, it backfires on you sooner than you think. Look what happened with Ryan Garcia. He has talent just like many other young prospects and he said he would be world champion by end of 2018. He was so confident he would get the knockout on Jayson Velez and look what happened. Not only did he not get the knockout, his performance was underwhelming and convinced Golden Boy he's not ready for a world title. The same will be the case with Teofimo should Silva expose him

Yeah I kind of agree. I mean it's smart. The only reason I noticed this guy is due to his mouth and willingness to do interviews.

Some of the other young guys could learn a thing or two from this kid lol

It's in your interest to talk A LOT while you're in the prospect-contender stage. Barring an upset, you'll be in position to capitalize if the built up attention you created when you finally get a title shot.

You don't have to be an *******, but talking is effective when you're on the come up. Gotta live with the consequences though lol

From a risk assessment view-point don't you think it's smarter to talk while you're still being carefully matched as a prospect?

It doesn't change the quality of the opposition you'll face. And it probably helps to have a few fans just in case you have a bad night and the promoter loses a bit of faith in you. That way you can't be buried if you're not as good as people thought you were.

We've seen fighters leverage followings a lot over the years despite not being very good. Look at Verdejo (Although it wasn't his mouth that got him in trouble. It's just an example of there being constant demand despite the fighter not being that talented.) Broner too.

Let him have his fun, so far everything is going his way. He's not beating women or getting arrested and maybe somebody will do a dance over him one day. Remember Broner trying to bug Maidana? How he got his in the end.
