Right. The funny thing is that the talking only benefits the fighters in the long run imo. Why? Because even if they're not that good people know their names and will watch them fight.

I say let the prospects and contenders talk.

Now at the elite level, it's wise be careful with your mouth imo. Might end up like Lubin or Williams. After savagely disrespecting those Charlos, they both got dealt with lol

It doesn't change the quality of the opposition you'll face. And it probably helps to have a few fans just in case you have a bad night and the promoter loses a bit of faith in you. That way you can't be buried if you're not as good as people thought you were.

We've seen fighters leverage followings a lot over the years despite not being very good. Look at Verdejo (Although it wasn't his mouth that got him in trouble. It's just an example of there being constant demand despite the fighter not being that talented.) Broner too.
Yes and no. Yes, I think there should be some talking to show your willingness but not call out the big names just yet especially knowing you haven't fought a C class fighter at the very least. I would be more subtle like say I'll fight anybody at this point of my career. He could take advice from Vergil Ortiz, a young prospect that happens to be one of my favorites cause he knows the place where he is right now and smart enough to know to take his time to build his path to a world title. People could argue and say oh but Teofimo is only 20 you know how kids are. Well guess what? Ortiz is also only 20 and he's knocked out all ten of his opponents. He doesn't talk much and he dont have to cause his fighting does all the talking and has still earned him more fans. He's one of the few young prospects people should be looking at not this over hyped Top Rank kid

I'll check him out. Good look.

But I'll be honest, I only know of Lopez because I saw him on one of the YouTube channels talking (same with Ryan Garcia). Made me want to see what he was about. I didn't even know he was a Top Rank guy. I thought he was with Haymon until recently. But I think hearing him talk big made an impression.

I think there's something in the talking. Especially with social media. But I understand your point.

He was so confident he would get the knockout on Jayson Velez and look what happened. Not only did he not get the knockout, his performance was underwhelming and convinced Golden Boy he's not ready for a world title. The same will be the case with Teofimo should Silva expose him
Last I checked 19 yr old Ryan won every single rd against a former title challenger who had never been stopped, I say the kid is doing pretty damn well for himself but keep on hating I’m sure you’ll just contribute to his success.

It's not hating. It's stating facts! You should do your research more cause he didn't win every single round. Your boy was too busy clinching and running away most of the fight. Does that sound like he doing pretty damn well? Have a seat
