Hasn't the PBC already had 10 or 11 title fights (in addition to other decent match-ups) with us just halfway thru 2018?

If that is how the OP defines failure, I wonder what success looks like...

Seriously though... Has PBC officially failed? I'm not so sure of that.
PBC isn't dead, but they don't seem to be doing much lately.

I guess that to judge whether it failed or not you would have to know what Haymon wanted to achieve with PBC, and nobody seems to know that, not even Haymon!

Explain? Are you counting SHO or no in this case? Because if you are, then PBC on SHO has put on consistently the best match ups the last two years. 2017 was pretty damn good and PBC has had a very good start to the first half of 2018.

I signed up for ESPN+ to watch the Crawford fight and forgot to cancel so I got stuck with it for the month, I have yet to even bother using it since.
See my post above, we are discussing dazn as if it's a dedicated boxing streaming app whereas the reality is they're looking to be the Netflix of sport.

Stranger things is massively popular, but if Netflix only had that it wouldn't be much of a proposition. Likewise Dazn...

I wouldn't say the PBC brand "failed" being Showtime still facilitates their fights but as far as "changing the game" with the "PAID" Network deals they had, that was only going to last as long as their ratings being through the roof every time out which didn't really happen. They still have some FOX appearances and they still have the CBS outlet being they're the parent company to Showtime. Arum's deal with ESPN though is different because ESPN is fronting everything with 0 coming out of Bob's pocket as it relates to "Paid Airtime".

I suspect we wont understand how much PBC has changed the game until mid 2019. The reason I say this is because that's when its suspected that the fox and Disney merger will be complete. Once that's done the new fox will have crazy money to spend on tv rights. As for the moment its pretty clear for people who have been following the pbc that they are in negotiations for a rights deal.

DAZN is looking at a myraid of sports offerings, with boxing being only 1 of them.

To act as if boxing is a make-or-break entity for either company is simply incorrect.

Showtime has greatly reduced the money they spend on major motion pictures, pouring that money instead into original series and boxing. So boxing is no longer the door prize it once was for SHO. You're correct that the original series are the meat and potatoes for them now, but boxing has become a bigger priority for them in recent years.

SHO and DAZN aren't going to live and die on boxing, but the point is simply that the DAZN business model is something SHO already adapted to. So in replying to the other poster who acted like SHO was somehow behind the curve business model was, that simply isn't true. Like DAZN, SHO is available as its own streaming service separate from any cable package, SHO is cheaper, SHO has a huge head start, and SHO has most of the top American boxers.

Any sort of dent that DAZN would put in SHO on the boxing front will be minimal at best.

FOX lost UFC rights to ESPN so they may need boxing to fulfill some of that. Not only that, but they will no question have more of a digital platform like other networks. Though they did add WWE Smackdown which was a big get for them. Need as much sport content as possible though. If I had to guess, I'd wager to bet Haymon ends up getting a deal done with FOX when it is all said and done. Just wish he would be able to make a stronger case for one by putting on better cards on that network aside from the type of cards that have aired recently or are to air.

Yeah on top of fox acquiring smackdown they decided to move from Tuesdays to Fridays. That makes room for toe to toe Tuesdays. As for the fights on fox I THINK but am not sure they are putting on recovery/b- class fighters on fox because Showtime is offering more money for certain guys and FS1 has yet to develop stars. Except for maybe caleb plant and david Benavidez.

Does anyone know if its common practice to put lower quality events on a network until your finished negotiating. Because if you don't it seems like your letting people get great free events other wise.
