Comments Thread For: Ivan Dychko Wipes Out Maurice Harris With One Punch

A heated crosstown welterweight rivalry was decided tonight in front of a near sellout crowd at Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, as Miami's Harold "King" Calderon (17-0, 10 KOs) out-worked and out-punched Miami's formerly undefeated John David "Pretty Boy" Martinez (10-1, 8 KOs)

Maurice Harris should stick to being a professional sparring partner. He has had that mentality since the late 90s. He was looking for a place to lay down asap so he could cash his check. He once had a lot of skill but lacked the drive to put it to good use in the professional ranks. He fought a few & sparred with a lot of top HWs the last 25 years...

Don't think the author of the article even saw the fight.

A right hand followed by a solid left hook is described as -

landed a glancing right hook and Harris elected to look for a soft spot to land.

wow I never saw that, he made his debut at 16 and that was his 10th loss at age 23 geez, looks like he was a decent counterpuncher but left himself open when left hooking , he could have been a contender if he'd been brought along right but really he was too small for heavy I guess.
Tough dude, definitely a disservice to compare to Malik Scott

I watched it. Harris is like Sprott & Danny Williams at this point. Had skills at one time but is simply there to cash a check as soon as possible...

He had a lot of losses but he fought a lot of decent HWs. He was a top sparring partner for a lot of HWs. He started as a LHW. He was matched tough early. Dale Brown went on to win a CW world title. He beat David Izon, Jimmy Thunder & had a close razor thin loss to Larry Holmes. Beat Jeremy Williams & Liakhovich, Derric Rossy. Was mostly a pro sparring partner for top HWs.
