Comments Thread For: Wilder: Joshua Would've Accepted $50M Offer If Not For Hearn

Like AJ would want a second concussion. If this is anything, it's a career ender for the loser. Thousands, not millions from here foreward. A rematch after a blistering KO on either side wouldn't sell. It might not be allowed. Why put all that at risk for less than 50 million dollars? AJ is such a money machine, but he can't raise the ante? Hearn gots billions and still squawking about a split on half of what he refused. It doesn't make any sense.
They're both capable of earning well following a loss.Comment

A boxing fan shouldn't care about boxers' salaries either, but we do. At least to me, the financials are always interesting, especially when something doesn't make sense.
You say it was proven to be a legit offer. What does that mean? All we heard from Hearn is that they're interested in it, and they sent a few questions back. Do we, as fans, know anything after that? Were there any details in that offer? What kind of control & guarantees were in there?
Why did it come with the the PR-stunt type 24 hour deadline? We know that nothing happened for weeks after that deadline, so why mention it?
Nothing about that offer looked normal. It was significantly higher in value than the typical offer the fan makes, was short on details, they refused to answer questions about it, and came with a very short, artificial deadline.Last edited by uppercut510; 07-02-2018, 01:30 PM.Comment

Again with you guys, wow. “Can make”...does it make you feel better that he has made that over his last 3 fights? And after only 21 fights he stands to make more as he gets more and more in the public eye? That 50m dollars he can make it in his next two fights without Wilder. Wilder would have to take 10 fights minimum to make that same money. Just to put things into context.Comment

It was 50 million + Upside so realistically probably closer to 80 million, if not more.
Even if that wsan't the case no he can't. His last guarantees were for 15, 10, 13 + upside. Whose he gonna fight that can generate that interest, Fury? Whyte 2? He'd still be quite a bit far away from 50 million + upside.Comment

Wow. So now you're saying $50 million guaranteed to Joshua is a bad deal because if the fight did over $100+ million, Wilder would get $50+ million? Just want to confirm...Comment

bottom line is...if hearn wasn't around aj would have took the 50mil and we would be talking about how the fight outcome would be instead of this empty back n forth. 24 hours? well/...the same reason the WBA came with a 24 hour dead line for pedvtken vs aj and its been damn near 5 days since then and aj hasn't been stripped, no purse bid no nothing.
And.. no, those are not the same. Not even in the same world.
A fighter coming up with a ton of money for a mysterious offer and then giving an artificial 24 hour deadline is vastly different from an organization giving a deadline to make the fight against the mandatory, especially since they gave Hearn another month extension to try to make the Wilder fight.
Compare it to Golovkin-Derevyanchenko. Those guys stripped Golovkin pretty much the next day after the deadline passed. No purse bids, warnings, nothing. At least WBA gave Hearn a month extension, and then gave him 24 hours.Comment

No offense, but that's a very naive way of thinking about it. You're basically blaming one side for not taking a ****** deal in order to make the fight happen. I can pull the same ****** argument back at you and say 'Well if Wilder took the flat fee we'd have a fight'.
