Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez: I Want To Unify, Be a Pound-For-Pound Fighter!

Gilberto Ramirez promised that Roamer Alexis Angulo would be the first to taste defeat - when the two undefeated fighters collided in Oklahoma on Saturday night. Ramirez unanimously outpointed Angulo to retain the WBO super middleweight championship, winning 120-108 on one judge's card and 119-109 on the other two.

Fight David Benavidez, and you can become the unified Super Middleweight Paper Champion.

The WBC have ordered Benavidez to defend against the Groves/Smith winner, so the only option for unification is DeGale.

I'm not sure Zurdo is ready for the big leagues? Groves, Benavidez, and even Uzcategui would've beat him last night! Zurdo's defense was horrible! I think Arum should let him fight Chris Eubank Jr. or David Lemieux! Groves is fighting Smith, DeGale is fighting Uzcategui, Benavidez was ordered to fight Anthony Dirrell, so Eubank Jr. and Lemieux are probably the best available!

Uzcategui IMO is the best right now. Him and Benavidez would be AWESOME!

Zurdo just doesnt have it. No way this guy should of went 12 rounds.

Won't fight Koborov or Fielding but wants people to believe he will fight the other champions. Stay tuned for another random opponent in a few months time.

There is a strong criticism of his opponents which in a way I get BUT stop hyping these guys who have much worse resumes. Start calling for them to step up?
Benavidez for one, Uzcategui is apparently the best now why because he beat a seriously shot Andre Dirrell? Nothing impressive about that in 2018.

He's just fought 3 undefeated contenders in a row including a top 5 ranked Hart while waiting for the WBSS winner.

This. If Zurdo wants to unify he better try for DeGale......

                  1) Zurdo didn't prepare for Groves, Benavidez, and Uzcategui...
I guess he was there for a public sparring, in order to gain experience...

                  2) yes: Groves, Smith, DeGale, Uzcategui, and Benavidez are all busy now...

                  3) I don't see Eubank Jr. wishing to fight Zurdo (especially away from home)... so, Lemieux maybe...

Arum's coddling of Zurdo will come back to bite him. No way has beating all the nobodies of the world prepared him for the best. He could have been better. The best thing they could do for Ramirez now is to slowly start getting him there with better comp.
