As far as I know they didn’t have a signed contract. Should Hearn have secured a venue and a date ahead in anticipation? Absolutely, would the Canelo/GGG fight had made it difficult for September? IMHO yep... But as far as we know no contract was signed which gives Hearn a way out if he was looking for one.Exactly. And unlike the IBF, you have way more time to get in the paperwork with the WBA.
In the IBF, once they order the purse bid, time is up. In the other orgs, you still have time. And in this instance, a purse bid hasn't even been ordered yet.
Povetkin is next because that's what Hearn always wanted. If he wanted Wilder next, he could email him a contract tonight and have it signed in the morning. There is still time. He just isn't interested.Comment

Yeah, he did a million of them and I watched most. And I never once heard him refute that it wasn't in the agreement. Just a lot of double talk regarding how they "knew" and he told them and answered their questions, email blah blah. If he put it in the contract, no one would even make up such a weird thing.
I linked a video from a few weeks ago where he said they were still negotiating, talking nearly every day, that his father met with Finkel...and that Povetkin was next.Comment

No contract was signed because Hearn refused to put it in the contract that the fight would be next.As far as I know they didn’t have a signed contract. Nothing would have stopped Hearn from sending a contract that stated there'd be no interim fights and the fight would take place in October or November on a date to be confirmed later.
But he wouldn't do that. Finkel waited and waited for Eddie to tell him what to write into the contract date wise and Eddie finally admitted the date was April 2019. That's what killed the deal.
You can look at Hearn interviews from weeks ago where he was already trying to condition AJ fans for the fight being signed now, but not taking place until after Povetkin. Hearn's not ******. He's possibly the best promoter in the world. He knows exactly what he's doing. I'm not knocking him. UK fans just need to wake up and realize a promoter's #1 job is to lie to the public.Comment

If the contract was signed then Hearn would have been caught out. There is no way they would sign that contract and it would be “Oh no venues until 2019”, even though I don’t believe Hearn, I don’t believe Finkel too.No contract was signed because Hearn refused to put it in the contract that the fight would be next.

There have been so many versions and reasons as to why the fight broke down that I don’t know what to believe. Listening to Wilder and hearing Hearn you are inclined to believe Wilder yet his team were procrastinating on signing the deal.Y are u making it all about the money ? Wasn’t the money aspect already agreed to ?
The deal killer was not the money, rather Joshua’s side attempting to tilt the scale ridiculously in their favor on every level including a one-way rematch clause.
It’s simply absurd, and is probably clear evidence that they really didn’t want the fight to begin with.
Whilst we are on the topic of rematches wasn’t the 50 million offered to Joshua exempt of a rematch clause? Both teams were posturing which you can understand with the A side perhaps because unquestionably they see Wilder as a threat but team Wilder should have signed and taken their frustrations out on him in the ring. I hated the diva approach it’s not manly but it’s boxing.Wilder was in a position to ruin the party. He can’t complain nowComment

Exactly...We all know Hearn was not keen and he has another path that is just as lucrative for Joshua with less risk. Team Wilder knows this yet we’re procrastinating themselves. It’s that Shelly ‘s ego he had his own big fight he wanted to win and that was trying to outsmart Eddie. He is a multimillionaire that has been in the game for years and doesn’t like been publicly insulted by a brash young ****y Englishman. Deontay’s wishes and desires were but on the back burner. Shelly wanted to win the media brawl by all cost. It cost his client a shot and being undisputedAs far as I know they didn’t have a signed contract.
