Yeah, I remember it very clearly.
Probably a week after he dismantled Stiverne and gained a title.
He was interviewed on FNF, and you know what fans expect from him.
Klitschko and Fury's name were brought up, as fans would expect, and it's clear as day he had no plans of fighting any one of them any time soon.
It's almost like a script Haymon fighters are used to following.
You know, like Adonis. Hold the title hostage fighting scrubs.
Then demand a big fight when you don't even deserve one.

The time line is very clear. Wilder wins the WBC title in early 2015. Wladimir already had a deal in place to fight Jennings.

When Wilder wins the title, his manager, who is also Wladimir's manager, said Wilder would have two quick defenses before targeting Wladimir. Finkel kept his word and very quickly scheduled two defenses. Wladimir had an overdue double mandatory against Fury, but Finkel's plan was to match Wilder & Wladimir in 2016 and arranged for that Forbes piece in late 2015 to hype the fight.

The problem with Finkel's plan is that Wladimir ended up losing to Fury, ruining everything. But there's no doubt Finkel intended to have Wilder fight Wladimir in 2016. When people say Wilder "ducked" Wladimir, the accusation is so crazy because Wladimir lost his titles the same year Wilder won his title. Finkel's famous quote about Wilder needing two quick defenses to get ready was an honest and fair assessment and Finkel kept his word and had Wilder fight two fights very quickly and then set up the Forbes article to hype the Wladimir fight.

Finkel: "Wilder won't be rushed to fight Klitschko."
As if he's talking about a prime Klitschko.
        Kills me with these clowns.

Finkel said that 2 or 2 1/2 years before AJ fought Klitschko. Nobody was talking about Klitschko being washed up when Finkel said that. Finkel managed Wilder and Klitschko at the same time and wanted to build Wilder up for a couple more fights before going to the big show down. Klitschko vs Wilder was the plan for 2016 had Klitschko beat Fury. Finkel was trying to time it so that Wladimir's HBO contract would be up so it could be built as a Showtime PPV.

Wlad was looking to fight in the States and Finkel, who actually worked with K2 at the time, ruled out Wilder as the opponent:

“Look, Wilder is a baby winning the title. Let him develop just like any other athlete. They don't take someone who is a great college prospect and throw him right in. And this kid is a great prospect.”

Wilder was 33-0 and the WBC champion when Finkel came out with that crap. 10 months later Tyson Fury, 26 years old and 24-0, went to Germany and beat Wlad on his own turf.

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32KOs) is still very much a work in progress, says his co-manager Shelly Finkel. After last Saturday's world titl

              It was a blatent duck.

finkel said wilder needed two quick defenses, which he went and scheduled. wladimir was already committed to jennings.

you talk down a fight when you knows its not the plan yet and you talk it up when it is. which is why finkel had wilder start hyping the fight after his two quick defenses.

they didnt expect klitschko to lose so fast. wilder vs klitschko in 2016 was finkel's plan.

Cowards supporting cowardice!LMAO birds of a feather flock together!

The REAL Frank Bruno is rolling in shame in his bed after seeing AJ do everything he can to get out of fighting Deontay Wilder while allowing himself to be put on a gag order by two Caucasians who's supposed to work for him and letting one of them speak for him!

You AJ fan girls have no shame defending the biggest duck in boxing history!

Remember forever,.your guy DEMANDED 50 million and sweared he would sign tomorrow and got it but then declined his own DEMAND and said he wants less money in the UK for the FANS yet charges these same fans PPV for bum fights!

Your a disgrace, if Fury never beat Klitschko, Wilder would've gotten to Klitschko first!

Really .. isn't that known as being a "coward ass bitch" in Wilder world?

The "smell of pussy" hanging over Deontay must have been overpowering ...
