Beating Postol in your 13th fight is impressive enough, though I was convinced that Taylor would have been able to stop him.
Taylor needs more fights before mixing it up with the cream. As of now he would be risking a lot in a genuine title fight.
Another one.

Postol was in the fight until the end.Originally posted by mlac View PostIt was an even fight halfway through, then postol had a big round in the 7th, then taylor came back big and practically swept all the remaining rounds +the KD. so yeah he was the clear winner by 3-4 points.
If that's the case then this was a statement win by Taylor, to get a victory over someone like Postol after only 12 fights is pretty impressive.

I had it 114 - 113 to Taylor with the KD crucial. Could see it a point wider for Taylor as I scored the eighth to Postol but could have gone either way. That meant I had Postol 6-2 up after eight, but Taylor swept the last 4.
Thought Taylor was in big trouble, speed wasn't necessarily the issue so much as accuracy and a consistent jab from Vik. Once Taylor got beyond his own jab late on and closed the distance there was only one winner.
Very good high quality fight, with the scorecards the only negative.

Perfect timing on taking this fight for Taylor, this is the sort of fights more guys need to take before a title shot as it's a great learning experience that's gonna make him better for the future.
It seemed to me in the 2nd half Taylor realised that looping left was able to land and hurt Postol and he just stuck at it even when some were missing and that led to the KD and win. Hopefully he doesn't make a habit of throwing too much that it gets predictable as future opponents are going to look out for it.

The Taylor from rounds 1 to 8 is nowhere near dethroning Prograis but the Taylor after that is maybe 2 or 3 fights away from giving him a good scrap at least. Taylor vs Relikh would be good buzz.
