Not really an option for him unless he can either develop devastating power or an inexhaustible energy source. He can't just stand there playing defense and he hasn't shown the power necessary to hurt Golovkin nor the stamina to be on offense for 3 minutes of the round.
canelo has to stand and fight this time....

you tell em abel !!...if he wants to leave the ring with any ounce of credibility. mexican fighters arent meant to run, especially against someone almost a decade older. he stunk the place out last time with negative tactics and got booed, its time to make up for that. the fans want to see a fight, thats what they are paying for.
And if hes as angry as he says he is it should be no problem. Just dont run to the ropes this time. Stay in the centre of the ring and trade shots and try and do some damage. 'Light him up' like everyone said you would. golovkin wont be taking a backwards step all night, believe me, if you want a firefight he wont be hard to find...Comment

Exactly. All he has to do is win clearly, that should be his only concern. He doesn't have to do a damn thing. His top priority is winning, why would he adopt a game plan that would jeopardize that?
Remember when Tim Bradley felt the need to do that against Provodnikov and got brain damage and a shortened career because of it?
Canelo would lose more credibility if he got knocked out for no good reason.Comment

Canelo does not need to do anything. However I believe if he is going to be a true boxing legend with Mexican fans in and out of Mexico he needs to engage in a battle. He can fight like he did last time and possibly win but it will not make him a legend. Mexican fans want a fighter who is in the pocket, someone who is willing to hit and be hit (hopefully a lot more of the latter than the former).Comment

So does Golovkin. Canelo spent long spells standing still on the ropes, and GGG didn't do sheeet. Pawed with his jab and missed every time he threw a power punch. If GGG sells out and comitts, Canelo will have no choice but to fight....if he wants to leave the ring with any ounce of credibility. mexican fighters arent meant to run, especially against someone almost a decade older. he stunk the place out last time with negative tactics and got booed, its time to make up for that. the fans want to see a fight, thats what they are paying for.

Canelo never been crazy aggressive. ...he always been a power punching counter puncher. One of the reasons he got mopped so easily vs Floyd.Comment

Bingo.....Canelo will lose vs GGG 8/10 times.Comment

Canelo's most effective strategy to win is to run for 12 rounds and hope for a robbery decision. If he stands and trades, he will most likely get ****ed up badly by GGG until his corner or the ref stops the fight. The annoying part is that I believe Canelo could win by KO if he took this risk (and would get mad respect if he did), but he's probably not willing to.Comment
