I think most people are going by what they saw, obviously the career is tainted, but you can only make this comparison by what we saw, and in fairness based on that eye test and the accomplishments, you have to say that Margarito was a beast.

For what it's worth, I do think he cheated against Cotto, and god knows who else. His punches had an effortless, thudding power to them, and after he got caught they didn't.

I'm not one thinking Hurd is THAT bad ass a dude & I think Charlo beats him by just keeping punches in his face all night. As long as Charlo doesn't run outta gas I think its his fight.

There is actually no proof he ever did cheat if we are being technical about it. He got caught BEFORE his fight with Mosley. He was never caught after a fight & I've heard pundits talk about this with various uses of evidence & opinions of others who've been in the ring with him & the consensus is usually leaning towards he got a bad rep.

Although obviously thats the thing when you get caught cheating, with sh^t like Margarito got got with or with PEDs, is that you can't put a date on when it started or if this was the first time.

As much as you or I or anyone else wants to make Margarito a serial cheater there is no hard evidence or even strong speculation based upon reality that says that's true or even likely.

there's virtually no chance that it was his first time. why would you do that? "hey, this over the hill guy lost to the prime guy you just destroyed, let's load our gloves for the first time in front of one of the best trainers in the world and the athletic commission."


tyhis is why i always worry that a lot of you didn't watch boxing at the time, and why i don't take seriously a lot of the talk i hear in NSB about attitudes and opinions during a certain period.

mosley was looked at as being over the hill. look at what he did after margarito. look at what he had done before. the margarito victory was a mirage because margarito was a fabrication. the only remarkable thing about that fight, and it was remarkable because margarito had the best chin at WW i have ever seen on a contemporary fighter, was the knockout. and even then, the guy had just been busted red handed and could have been looking at the end of his career, you can't expect him to be there mentally for the fight. he looked completely out of it.
