Hurd is just a stronger Margarito.

A stronger Margarito makes a damn hard fighter to beat. You forgot the part that Hurd has big punching power in both hands and keeps that power until the final bell. Hurd is tall but he weighs exactly the same 168 pounds on fight night as Jermell, Lara, Trout and other full sized 154 pound boxers do. He has NO weight advantage. I think Hurd probably beats everyone at 154 with the Mexican who KOed Ali being his toughest fight.

Exactly when Lara hit Hurd a few times with those left hooks Hurd definitely eased off a little bit. Hurd also stopped throwing power punches in the middle rounds because Lara was countering him pretty hard early.

I think if Lara was his size and had more punching power he would have stopped him. Lara would have beaten Jermell that night though so it’s why I think him and Hurd are a 50/50 fight.

I’ve watched the Hurd Lara fight twice now. Hurd is a come forward fighter who eats shots while wearing you out. His footwork is sloppy and he was off balance and all over the place in this fight. He tires out his opponents by his ability to walk through shots. He’s enjoyed a huge size and height advantage over his opponents. Once he fights someone with pop,good skills and a good gas tank, I think he may have to re-evaluate his defense and footwork because I see him taking his first loss. Lara was beating him in this fight before he got tired IMO.

Margarito was a much better fighter than Hurd will ever be.

Lara and Hurd both weighed the same 168 pounds on fight night so Lara is the same size only shorter. We have weight classes in boxing, not height and reach classes. If you go by height then Tyson was a 5 foot 11 inch tall middleweight. Lara is a master boxer who hits plenty hard and Hurd still beat him. Now you say if Lara hit harder he would have won. If Lara hit harder he might also have beat Canelo but if he hit harder he wouldn't really be Lara would he now? Hell let's give Hurd a better defense if you are going to give Lara more punching power.

I'm done doubting Hurd. He is probably better than Margarito. Margarito has more variety in his attack. He went up and down a lot more and he threw a range of wide shots, but Hurd is way more athletic. Its not even close. Hurd could still get better with his technique whereas Margarito hit his ceiling early on.

Margarito had the better career. That doesnt mean Hurd wont keep winning. He is massive and I wont be surprised at all if he walks through Charlos best shots and stops him too.

I'm not one thinking Hurd is THAT bad ass a dude & I think Charlo beats him by just keeping punches in his face all night. As long as Charlo doesn't run outta gas I think its his fight.

While there may be some similarities, Margarito was a better all around fighter. Fought much better opposition as well.
