It most likely was. The middle east always talks about hosting fights and then doesn't cough up the funds. I'm amazed the tournament organizers a) didn't consider this and b) would said Russia or nothing.

It basically killed all the hard work they put in. Sucks for Gassiev too but hard to hold it against him he's just a fighter and he can't exactly say "My country is a **** place for a Ukranian to come get a fair shake".

BOTH guys miss an amazing opportunity. The suggestion that either is scared is pathetic IMO.

anyway you wanna slice it this is a botched fight that has the boxing world hyped....whoever you wanna put the blame on doesn't matter to me....its a great fight everyone wants to see and really no reason something fair hasn't been put on the table by now

This fight should be in neutral territory hopefully they can work it out.
If not Tabiti is a decent fight in the mean time I wouldn't mind seeing, obviously I'd rather Usyk vs Gassiev though and that should be next.

I would say that depends on how much money the Russians would pay for the right to stage it. Little doubt though that Gassiev vs Usyk would be a bigger fight worldwide than Gassiev vs Tabiti.
