I think this is true but I think Canelo and Golden Boy are in a difficult position in way; if they don't make the Golovkin fight they will need a credible opponent to avoid criticism from media and public perception. That's the Charlo's, Jacobs and BJS of the division. Tough fights that may not draw as much on PPV. You can offer 20%, but is he making as much for a fight that may not be easier than Golovkin?

Sure he can fight Spike, but is that PPV? How much will he make financially and what will be the cost in perception? For the record, I'm not saying GGG deserves a 50% split and I'm not saying Jacobs deserves more than 20%...Canelo puts people in seats and gets PPV buys but there's something to be said about optics whether right or wrong.

I guarantee Jacobs wouldn't turn down a reasonable offer. I'm guessing it was somewhere between 90/10 and 80/20.

Golden Boy have to realise a bit of give is required, especially since they'll still receive the lion's share. Also their cash cow is a tainted animal which certainly doesn't help.

Is Jacobs even worth the reported 20% ?

It’d be a great fight if it happens but honestly Jacobs doesn’t bring anything to the table financially probably Jacobs brings a couple extra 1000 people to buy the PPV and probably does around the same as Spike who would come cheap

He’s a flat fee type of fighter as far as selling a PPV.

If GGg got 30% for the first fight, Danny in no way shape or form is worth 2/3 of what Gennady brings

Jacobs better not think he's worth the same as lil g.. he can kick rocks if that's the case. Delusional.

Assuming the 20% reported was accurate, Jacobs should take it. If 30% is acceptable for the unified middleweight champion, Jacobs who brings nothing to the table should accept 20%.

Jacobs vs gingernuts is a good fight, tactical , but very good. I doubt Oscar De la Lingerie will allow a proper offer so it can take place but if so, I expect DJ to beat him easier than GGG did.
Still a competitive fight though, Jacobs longer than GGG and hits hard too.
He will be cagey not like relentless GGG but great tactical fight

Good business. If Golden Boy are going to set deadlines, and use a fight with Jacobs as leverage to get commitment elsewhere, then good on him for getting every cent out of it when GB's bluff is called.

With all due respect to DJ...the fight itself isnt the reason to take it. If you punish/pummel the "A" side Ca$helo than you elevate yourself a few levels or become the "A" side. That's why you take these fights. It's not about the payday of the fight. It's about the potential reward afterward.

Gennady pricing himself out makes sense for 2 reasons. First he doesn't want the rematch. Call it spite, fear, anger, frustration - whatever it is - he doesn't want it. Secondly this is one of his last big fights and hes looking to cash out. It makes sense to try and squeeze as much as he can get

It makes zero sense for DJ - only 31 - to price himself out. Hes got years ahead and could easily make something of himself with the charisma of new promoter Hearn...especially if he beats Ca$hnelo like he did Quillin.

Bad move by DJ and camp
He agreed to the rematch before your boy tested positive for PEDS
