1. Sometimes your goals change in your life. Maybe they want to beat big names or cash out I dunno...

2. They somehow failed to unify because the BJS fight seems too complicated to do. So it doesn't look like a possible goal at this point.

The BJS fight was signed and ready to go after the Jacobs fight. The Jacobs fight was a whole lot harder than they expected and decided to shut GGG down until the Canelo fight.

I think it's almost impossible to maintain 3 or more belts in this day and age. At some point, you're going to miss a mandatory due to circumstances or a bigger payday.

Fight Derevyanchenko instead of Vanes. Not that hard if that's the actual goal.

Well, Golovkin realized he will never win a decision in Vegas against Canelo, add in the two failed ped tests and the wasted time I see exactly why GGG wanted 50/50. I think GGG is now best moving on... Canelo is literally 'tainted'.
