Other fighters have been stripped of their title for not fighting their mandatory. So nothing new. The fact is Red isn’t a draw on his own. The PPV numbers reflect it and without GGG Canelo will be facing Spike and I would bet that doesn’t even get put on PPV.

I think some people are vastly underestimating what Golovkin makes against solid names when able to promote a proper PPV & grossly exaggerating what Canelo will make against someone else that isn't an established name. It's more like they both make 5x as much together while Canelo makes 2-3x what GGG does without him. This is also before the scandal, none of us know how that will affect his numbers if he doesn't fight Golovkin next, while GGG's sales are surely going to rise since, as he's gotten more exposure.

vs Jacobs: $2.5m purse + minimum $4m from live gate & ppv.

It doubles their ppv share & in effect earns them just as much even if the sales are doubled against Canelo.
