russel jr has always been overpaid. typical overpaid haymon fighter.

but showtime has wilder, who is goign to fight joshua for silly money on PPV. they're not going anywhere. CBS and showtime will make more money on that nighthtan they will ont he rest of the year in boxing. they can take a loss or break even everrwhere else as long as they have the next floyd mayweather. and there iwll be another floyd mayweather. people watch boxing and are wiling to pay for matches they consider compelling.

Numbers reflect the fact so many have started watching on SHO app.

Seems Russell's fight didn't do great but which other Showtime fights have had disappointing viewing figures? Most of the numbers that get mentioned seem pretty good.

Also, and this is just a guess, but maybe Haymon guys sometimes get told the sort of funds that are available now and in the future, you can get 900K for a fight in 3 months time or wait 6 months and get 1.3M, and that's why Russell gets paid more per fight than guys who are more active. I do agree that you can't overpay fighters often, but Russell fought a tough opponent and headlined the show so I don't mind a guy getting well paid for a situation like that.

8 am Soccer games on FS1 do better views then 8pm Showtime boxing and that's Soccer ain't really popular in America.

Showtime is playing the long game (and winning).

Threadstarter is clearly a premature ejaculator.

Showtime isnt paying Russell, Haymon is. You have no idea how much Showtime paid Haymon for the broadcast rights.

Showtime doesn't care about some Nielsen ratings. Those ratings don't factor in the streaming views. Showtime is invested in their streaming service and it has been huge for them. Showtime cares about subscriptions not ratings. HBO should be having way more views than Showtime with them being in more homes and with their streaming service not showing live boxing.
