Showtime will soon drop boxing with # of views they are doing currently

Over paying boxers 1-2 millions of dollars to fight and they can't even do 1 million views. Just look at this example of the Gary Russell fight.Gary got paid 1.2 million and he got less that 600,000 views and didn't even sell out the 8,000 person arena. Stephen Espinoza needs to be fired. He is a Al Haymon puppet milking Showtime/CBS. Showtime will soon find out about the bad buisness decisions of Espinoza and start cutting budget just watch.

8 am Soccer games on FS1 do better views then 8pm Showtime boxing and that's Soccer ain't really popular in America.

Espinoza is going nowhere. He brought them hundreds of millions of dollars by securing Mayweather years ago.

The New York owner of CBS Corp. and Showtime said revenue rose 13% to $3.76 billion, compared with $3.43 billion in the year-earlier period. In prepared remarks, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves attributed the company’s results to demand for its content across various media venues, ranging from broadcast TV to new services delivering CBS and Showtime content via broadband. CBS said it earned $511 million in the first quarter, or $1.32 a share, in the quarter, compared with a loss of $252 million, or 61 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
Revenue at its cable networks rose 12% to $609 million, compared with $543 million, owing to growth at Showtime’s subscription-based streaming service and renewal of licensing for Showtime original series.

Doesn't sound like that is the case AT ALL! But hey I guess you know more than Les Moonves But Hey I guess Facts are Lies on this Forum!

Showtime right now is focused on BUILDING THEIR STREAMING SERVICE that is the future not their Networks Nielsen Ratings

Showtime will not stop showing boxing. They have way more commitment to it than HBO does. Now eventually what we might see them is cut back on their budget if the ratings don't match the money they invest in it, but that is the natural ebb and flow the sport sees anyway. The head of CBS is a huge boxing fan so as long as he is around it will always get support.

Good post but how much will they use on boxing? And how much does boxing generate?

Thank you for your uneducated amateur opinion.

Espinoza keeps getting promoted because boxing has been a huge success for Showtime.

Showtime knows how many people are watching. You don't. You only know how many people are watching live on television. Showtime is available to millions of people without subscribing through a cable provider and millions more watch on gaming devices, tablets, computers and phones using their cable company login.

Showtime allows their fights to be watched live a variety of ways that won't be counted by the Nielsen ratings, so the Nielsen ratings are absolutely irrelevant. Showtime's decision making is based on how many people are actually watching. Numbers you don't have access to.
