I still think the best plan of business for Hearn is to add just 3-4 star type fighters if he can and use the rest of his resources on cheaper, exciting B level action fighters, international guys with no US deals and young prospects and amateurs that he can build a foundation with.

Makes sense to do it that way and it's what Hearn will want, but if he's looking at a set number of dates and Duva says 'I'll stage 3 Kovalev cards in the next year and you can have just the broadcasting rights' does Hearn go for it?
I definitely don't see HBO letting him go with the 175 murderers row they got connected to HBO right now. And Duva is a ****** if she didn't re-sign Kovalev & I'd be shocked if Kovalev isn't re-signing with her.
I could see other Main Events boxers be used for DAZN dates if Hearn has trouble filling his roster, but if we are to believe the news in this thread that doesn't appear to be an issue.
Regarding what you said about Pac, I think Hearn would put him in a big UK fight against Khan, fill a DAZN date plus get the UK PPV, gate money. Especially if it's true that Pac is avoiding fighting in the US for tax reasons.

Broner got 1 mil for Garcia and 850k for Vargas. He turned down $6.75 mil for 3 fights? The guy is a ******. Almost as dumb as when he turned down the Roc Nation deal.

I think people need to remember things take time, he only announced it a few weeks ago and he only announced the deal early so he could get the ball rolling in terms of signing fighters because it takes time to go through those procedures. DAZN didn't want to announce anything at all until end of June.
It's worth remembering that some fighters already have fights scheduled, so they would probably need to wait until their upcoming fight is over before they can commit to anything. Even if they have no promoter, an upcoming fight would be promoted by someone and they will have some sort of 1 fight deal for contractual reasons.
Seems a lot of people on here have absolutely no concept about how business works anyway. It'll probably take until the end of the year before you see any real stable of fighters taking shape.
Who knows if it will take off or not, but it's far too early to be expecting any real names to be signed up.Last edited by TheBigLug; 06-01-2018, 12:57 PM.

We know Hearn works well with other promoters, probably moreso than anybody else in the game, but I'm going to be interested to see how many other promoters let their guys fight on DAZN. It's different when it's your card or Hearn is the main promoter but the fight is in the UK and you can still have it televised in the states on the channel you work with. Will be something to keep an eye on

If Hearn doesn't get 4-6 big name free agents then boxers are at a all time low in IQ. Too much money, too much opportunity to be promoted on a level they never have, too much chance for being a leader in something bigger, too little at risk if sh^t goes south.

And hell I think I'd be surprised if Hearn bought it. Seems like he's got such a good position & Duva such a secondary position to Hearn that Hearn could just ask & get random Main Event fighters on his cards if he has openings & cuz Duva has few options she'd ost non-Kovalev guys fight on DAZN.
I ain't hear Thurman say it. And the Charlo's I thought were just asking for more money more than saying they wouldn't fight for Hearn. I think the Charlo's are a solid bet to end up on DAZN cuz they've been treated sh^tty by PBC & been pushed poorly for their potential upside.
Has Porter said he's not interested? Kenny not Shawn.

One other thing I'm watching, what Hearn has had a ton of success with and what makes UK boxing so great imo, is the importance of regional fights. Not just talking about the prestige that goes with being a Commonwealth or British champion, but the way local fighters are revered and the ability to make guys start in their hometowns. That is something that basically doesn't exist in the US, where all important fights are in NY, Vegas or So Cal, but I think Hearn is going to try to tap into this based off what he said at that presser. I'm not sure it will work, but I hope it does and I'm super interested to see how it plays out.
For example, this is the kind of thing I think Hearn should be looking to do, aside from getting huge stars obviously. A guy like Evens Pierre, #1 in WBA rankings, pretty good fighter, making peanuts most likely fighting basically only out of Haiti. Sign this dude for cheap, work to get an eliminator, maybe win a purse bid to stage Pierre vs Linares as he tries to get that belt back in a final eliminator. Stage the fight in Miami, where Hearn has already talked about going, slap some PR and Cuban prospects on the card and throw in another Haitian Bermane Stiverne in the co-main event against SO FLA native Shannon Briggs. That **** would sell in Miami and that's the kind of stuff Hearn needs to be angling for on his "regular" cards. He has to get creative with this, at least in the early going and if they are smart about it, I think they can be successful.

And they got some vague words about "Lions Only Promotions" which is gonna be more work then they realize or a in name only promotion thats piggybacked onto the real promoter & getting people on their team who'll get the f#cking job done. And Hearn is a guy who'd get the f#cking job done.
