I don't think Jones should have carried on anywhere near as long as he did, but only in the sense that it was tragic to see and you worried about him getting seriously damaged by the bad KOs he was continually suffering. As it is, nothing can take away the great run he had when he looked invincible. If he had retired undefeated that might have elevated his long-term standing a bit, but he's still a legend, first ballot HoFer and worth discussing in the conversation for all time best P4P.
If Roy Jones retired in 2003.

I'd have picked the Ruiz version of Roy, over the end of career versions of Mike who fought Williams and McBride.
I couldn't envisage Roy beating Mike when he was at his peak though in the 80's. I don't see how he could have kept Mike off of him. It would have been a horrible match up for Roy, and I say that as one of his biggest fans.Comment

Yea, he would have a terrible time with the spinks version of Tyson. He would have had to run for a large portion of the fight and give up most of the fight on the cards and try and pull it out the second half. There is a reason there are weight classes.Comment

True.
I believe that Roy once admitted himself that he'd have had no chance against a prime version of Mike.Comment
