  • Comments Thread For: Prograis: Eventually, Jose Ramirez Will Have to Fight Somebody

Attractive alternatives have helped soften the blow somewhat for Regis Prograis. The undefeated Prograis still is bothered by how the whole Jose Ramirez situation unfolded. Prograis anticipated when he accepted the WBC's offer to fight for its interim championship that the sanctioning organization would make Ramirez defend his super lightweight title against Prograis next, as promised.

Both Taylor and Prograis would kill him.

Fully expect Ramirez to continue holding the title hostage, fighting the Danny O'Connors of this world.

Regis has Josh in his sights. Pretty sure he thinks it would be a better win than Ramirez. Could be he sees Jose as a peasant king compared to Josh, Prograis might even be an Anglophile impressed by the iambic pentameter. Josh has 12 fights and his best win is vs an old Mexican plodder, no style mauler, overweight and in Josh manor. High praise, or chumming the water.

That's how Bob Arum builds stars. Carefully match them against less dangerous opponents so that they can keep winning until he builds up to a big cash out fight.

Preferably with someone from his own stable.

It's good for his pocketbook but it's terrible for the sport.

Eventually he will have to fight me. Well as I understand it you were the mandatory. He had been allowed a voluntary and was going to have to fight you next. His promoter had put you on his undercard to build it. Then you went a different direction. So maybe stop crying about him ducking you?

I really REALLY like what I have seen from Prograis, from his all in performances to his knick name. This 140 tournament will be great, and should show if what we have seen is a product of opportunity or if he is a legit star.

I Love these Tournaments. So want to support them. Just great entertainment and have been well run.
